Palworld Online Turns the Survival Hit Into a Mobile MMO

fragster John Parker 3. August 2026

Garena has announced Palworld Online, an officially licensed mobile MMO based on Pocketpair’s creature-collecting survival game. The spin-off is scheduled to launch worldwide for iOS and Android in 2026.

Rather than transferring the existing Palworld directly to smartphones, Garena is developing a separate experience with an original narrative setting, a shared open world and systems designed around large-scale multiplayer interaction. Players will capture Pals, construct settlements and complete cooperative or competitive activities alongside others.

An exact release date, business model and regional launch schedule have not yet been confirmed.

Palworld Online Expands the Original Formula

Palworld Online retains the central concepts that helped the original game attract a large audience. Players will explore environments, capture creatures and assign Pals to different tasks around their base.

The spin-off expands those systems into a persistent MMO structure. Garena describes its world as seamless and interconnected, allowing players to encounter others while travelling between regions.

Confirmed gameplay features include:

  • Capturing, raising and training different Pals
  • Exploring a shared open world with other players
  • Establishing and expanding cooperative settlements
  • Completing PvE encounters and world boss battles
  • Competing against other players through PvP activities

The game will also introduce an original story and additional side narratives created specifically for the mobile version. These additions suggest that Palworld Online will not simply reproduce the quests and locations available in Pocketpair’s main title.

Shared Settlements Become a Central Feature

Base construction remains an important part of the new game. Players will be able to establish shared settlements that operate as collaborative hubs for crafting, defence and progression.

Pals can once again automate production and support the settlement by completing assigned jobs. The difference is that multiple players will be able to contribute to the same base and develop it together.

Feature Palworld Online approach
Exploration Seamless shared world
Creature system Capture, raise and train Pals
Base building Cooperative settlements
PvE Group encounters and roaming bosses
PvP Competitive multiplayer activities
Story New setting and exclusive side stories

Players looking for less demanding activities will be able to visit other settlements, search for rare Pals or join friends against bosses found in the open world.

The MMO structure could turn base building from a private survival system into a larger social and cooperative experience.

Garena has not revealed how many players can occupy each world or settlement. Server structures, matchmaking rules and the consequences of PvP encounters also remain unknown.

Garena Is Optimising the Game for Smartphones

Palworld Online is being developed specifically for mobile hardware instead of being presented as a conventional port. Garena plans to use a touch-friendly interface and optional one-tap controls for construction, Pal deployment and settlement management.

The developer says it wants to preserve the freedom and depth of Palworld while making the controls manageable on handheld devices. The game is also intended to work across a broad range of smartphone specifications.

Mobile optimisation will be one of the project’s largest technical challenges. Palworld combines open environments, AI-controlled creatures, construction systems and combat. Adding MMO-scale activity could place additional pressure on performance, battery life and network stability.

Garena’s experience with mobile titles and long-term live operations is a major reason Pocketpair selected the company for the licensed project. The publisher operates games such as Free Fire and has experience with localisation, regional infrastructure and large international communities.

Palworld Continues Growing Beyond Its Main Game

The announcement arrives shortly after Palworld reached its full 1.0 release in July 2026. Pocketpair’s original survival game had remained in Early Access since its successful launch in 2024.

Palworld Online is part of a wider expansion of the franchise. Pocketpair has explored additional projects and partnerships rather than limiting the brand to one survival title.

The mobile MMO will be separate from another mobile Palworld project associated with Krafton. Players should therefore not assume that every announced smartphone adaptation represents the same game.

Important details still awaiting confirmation include:

  • Whether Palworld Online will be free-to-play
  • How monetisation will affect Pals and progression
  • Which countries will receive access at launch
  • Whether cross-play or account transfers will be supported
  • When testing or pre-registration will begin

Garena has already established official social channels for the project, where further information about testing and the launch timeline is expected.

Assessment

Palworld’s survival, crafting and creature systems are a natural fit for a shared online world. Cooperative settlements and roaming bosses could give players stronger reasons to remain active after completing the main progression path.

The greatest uncertainty surrounds monetisation and technical execution. A mobile MMO requires regular content, reliable servers and progression systems that remain fair for both paying and non-paying players. Garena has not yet explained how these areas will work.

Palworld Online is therefore an ambitious expansion rather than a straightforward mobile conversion. Its success will depend on whether Garena can preserve the freedom of the original game while creating an accessible MMO for smartphones.

With a 2026 release planned, the next major reveal should clarify the launch window, regional availability and how closely the final experience will resemble Pocketpair’s survival hit.
