Overwatch 2 New Hero Teased: Sword-Wielding Tank Coming Soon

fragster James Steward 26. September 2025

Blizzard Entertainment has once again inspired a buzz for the Overwatch 2 community by teasing the debut of a new hero. Gamers first caught a glimpse of the hero in a recently released Ramattra comic. Though they were only brief and assumed the character’s name, users are speculating about who this new hero is and what it may entail.

When Will She Come Out?

Although Blizzard has not confirmed an official release date, if they keep consistent with the past, she will drop during a seasonal update. The next patch just dropped a month ago, so it might be between four and eight weeks before the She-Wolf of Retaliation hits the roster.

This aligns with Blizzard’s customary schedule for hero unveilings and builds anticipation for the unveil. Players can probably expect a completely animated trailer, an ability display, and perhaps even an event when this hero is eventually released.

The new character, “The She Wolf of Retaliation,” will be the 45th hero in Overwatch 2. While most recently released characters have either added new characters to Damage or Support roles, which are highly needed, this character looks to be designed as a Tank, which is certainly needed. From the teaser art and comic panels, she is seen holding a large sword, which makes people think her kit is going to be focused on melee combat. If that is true, it would change how Tanks are played, since only a few heroes rely on close-range melee mechanics. Fans already compare her to Reinhardt and Doomfist, but her look points toward a more aggressive and maybe quicker playstyle.

While there have been more DPS and Support heroes, Tanks are notably less. A new melee Tank that has mobility and crowd control could be very handy in checking long range DPS, synergizing with supports like Brigitte, and enabling a team to push past poke-heavy compositions.

While specific details are slim at this point, one thing is clear: Overwatch 2’s upcoming sword-wielding Tank is going to introduce something fresh. Her design and melee-focused style may even change how teams think about the frontline. Until Blizzard reveals her, the fanbase is going to continue speculating, but the She-Wolf of Retaliation is already in the running for the most noteworthy reintroduction in the game to date.
