Blizzard Entertainment has now gone ahead and revealed Vendetta as the 45th hero for Overwatch 2, arriving with a teaser that mixes a brief look at her past and some early hints at her heavy-hitting combat approach. The announcement lands just before Season 20, and it comes with a full schedule for when players can actually try her out beforehand.

Vendetta Early Access Trial

Players will have their first chance to experiment with Vendetta from November 26 to December 1, during a short hero trial that seems designed to let people judge her early impact. After that window closes, she will officially move into the game when Overwatch 2 Season 20 launches.

The date does fall on a Wednesday, which isn’t how updates for this game usually roll out, since most patches tend to land either on Tuesdays or occasionally on Thursdays. Still, judging from how past releases lined up, the trial is most likely opening around 11 a.m. PT on November 26.

Expected Global Release Times for the Vendetta Trial

  • 11:00 a.m. PT
  • 12:00 p.m. MT
  • 1:00 p.m. CT

  • 5:00 a.m. AEST (Nov. 27)

Vendetta Confirmed as a DPS Hero

Blizzard has clarified that Vendetta is an Italian Damage hero. The description provided paints her as someone raised inside violence and shaped around vengeance, turning what should’ve been a normal life into a kind of sharpened weapon. This slots her directly with offensive characters who rely on speed and constant pressure.

While the complete kit breakdown has not yet been revealed, we do see enough action in the announcement trailer to give us a hint of how she will play:

  • Giant Sword Swings: Vendetta wields a large sword and uses deadly quick swings of the blade that look fierce in close range.
  • Circular Spin Attack: There is some kind of spinning attack that almost looks like a whirlwind motion and seems to push space around her. Perhaps it acts as an area tool.
  • Diving Slash: She jumps straight up and back down in slashing in a straight-line while turning over. I would argue that this is somewhat of a familiar leap ability that has been around in other Blizzard titles.

There is enough to say that she is a melee-focused DPS hero who applies pressure, up close, and relies on rapid movements in a burst to catch her foe off balance.

Vendetta’s backstory is directly tied to Overwatch’s darker operations. Her origin leads back to Blackwatch, the covert team once led by Gabriel Reyes, who later becomes Reaper and involves figures like Cassidy, Moira, and Genji.

The trailer shows a scene connected to the old Retribution incident, where her father is killed, setting off the event that shapes her entire life. From that moment, she builds herself into “La Lupa,” or The Wolf, channeling her anger into a determined quest to chase down whoever played a part in that tragedy.
