OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division is an upcoming Dota 2 tournament with a huge prize pool of $500,000 and 12 participants. The event is scheduled to take place online, between August 14th – September 6th. Given the prize pool, the duration and the fact that the best teams in CIS and Europe will compete in the tournament, this may well be one of the most important Dota 2 events of 2020.
OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division Participants
OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division will feature the best lineups that Europe and CIS have to offer. In addition to that, Evil Geniuses seems to have moved to Europe, in order to be able to compete with RAMZES. Abed is still missing, so we’ll have to see who the 5th player will be. But the fact that EG is finally competing in a more acceptable formula is great news for their fans. Personally, I still don’t see them doing well with a stand-in at this competitive level, but we’ll have to see what Fly can do to save the situation.
These are the 12 OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division competitors:
- Team Secret
- Natus Vincere
- Team Liquid
- pro
- FlyToMoon
- Evil Geniuses
- OG
- Alliance
- Team Nigma
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- 5men
- gg
Most of these teams should sound familiar to you. The ones you probably don’t know much about are 5men and Vikin.gg. The first may be a new name but its players are actually very strong: Ace, Chessie, Misery, PieLieDie, and Xibbe. At least three of these players are world-class. As for Vikin.gg, they’re an Eastern European team with a lot of trophies in tier 3 and tier 4 divisions. Just in 2020, these guys won seven small tournaments and managed to finish 3rd in a tier 1 event. That’s pretty spectacular for such a little-known competitor. We’ll see what they can do in the OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division, but I don’t give them much of a hope. The level of competition is simply too high. Anything better than 9th – 10th would be a spectacular result for them.
Prize Pool
OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division has a prize pool of $500,000. I’m not sure how they decided to offer so much money for an online event, given that the sponsors are probably not very happy with the fact that there’s no LAN action to gather a large crowd of people. But nonetheless, we have an online competition that’s worth half a Major. And with that comes a big battle for the title.
Here’s how the prize pool of OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division will be split among the 12 participants:
- 1st place: $200,000
- 2nd place: $125,000
- 3rd place: $60,000
- 4th place: $30,000
- 5th – 6th place: $20,000
- 7th – 8th place: $15,000
- 9th – 10th place: $5,000
- 11th – 12th place: $2,500
Competitive Format
The competitive format of OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division is quite complicated. The Group Stage will consist of two groups of six. All matches will be Bo3. The top two teams from each group advance to the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs. The 3rd place teams advance to the Lower Bracket. The 4th and 5th place teams advance to the Play-in Stage. The last team in each group will compete in the Upper Bracket of the divine division’s Playoffs Stage. The Grand Final will be Bo5.
