On August 14th, OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division is scheduled to start with some hyped matches and a lot of great teams in the race. Of course, this is yet another online event, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. In this article, I will take a close look at the tournament’s participants and its potential dark horses.

OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division Competitors

OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division features a lot of exceptional teams from Europe, CIS, and even North America. Here’s the complete list of participants:

  • Team Secret
  • Team Nigma
  • Alliance
  • OG
  • Team Liquid
  • Evil Geniuses
  • pro
  • FlyToMoon
  • Natus Vincere
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • 5men
  • gg

Among these participants, we have three obvious favorites: Team Secret, Team Nigma, and Alliance. All of them have played very well in the last few months and in Secret’s case, they’ve been dominating the scene for almost three years. Apart from their underwhelming performances at The International, Secret’s been winning title after title, in and outside of the Dota Pro Circuit.

Apart from these favorites, we also have two potential dark horses. And I’m going to take a look at them below.

Potential Dark Horses

OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division offers at least two teams that might finish in the top 4 even though they don’t seem fully capable of it. These teams are Evil Geniuses and OG.

Evil Geniuses

Normally, Evil Geniuses shouldn’t be taking part in this EU/CIS tournament, because they’re a North American team. But apparently they’ve decided to move to Europe for a while in order to reunite with RAMZES and have a better chance at winning titles. The North American region is less active at the moment and one of EG’s players is stuck in Russia, while another one (Abed) is probably at home, in the Philippines.

Even with 4 active players, EG is still competing with a huge disadvantage. At this competitive level, not being able to play your highly trained strategies makes everything a lot more difficult than it should be. Consider the fact that Secret has been playing in its current formula for several years and knows what to do at every stage of the game. No matter what position they might find themselves in, they know what moves to make from that position in order to win the game. EG doesn’t have that option, because they need to improvise. But if they do manage to improvise (and Fly is an amazing captain), then they could easily get a top 4 result at OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division. Because the individual players it has are all world-class.

OG

The second potential dark horse is none other than OG, the winner of the last two TIs. It looks as though this team is doomed to stick to its tried and tested formula. Every time they try to change it, something breaks. But now they have to find a way to win in spite of all the changes, because JerAx is retired and ana’s far way. Every member of the roster is an accomplished world-class competitor, so it’s all about the synergy.
