Confirming recent speculation, it has been announced that Olof “Olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson has returned to CS:GO Esports with FaZe Clan. The BLAST Premier Fall Series returns this week, with FaZe set to take on BIG in their opening match. It is believed that Swede Kajdjer Gustafsson will lineup for FaZe, with in-game leader Nikola “NiKo” Kovac seemingly being on his way to G2 Esports.

Why Olofmeister Departed the CS:GO Scene

Olofmeister posted on Twitter just a few months ago that competing in the CS:GO scene had made severely fatigued, with the long hours of practice and stress caused by competing having clearly had a significant impact upon the veteran. However, a user on Reddit uploaded a picture of Olofmeister allegedly practicing with FaZe Clan, some five months after his last tournament. It now appears that the popular Swede could well be making his comeback, having last competed at the ESL One: Road to Rio Europe.

The 28-year-old built his reputation with both Fnatic and FaZe, winning some 25 titles in the process. He is perhaps most famous for having a more impressive ratio with the Tec-9 than with the AK-47. FaZe have moved quickly to replace NiKo, with the reinstatement of olofmeister to their main roster seemingly suiting both parties. The BLAST Premier Fall Series will give a clear indication as to whether olofmeister still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

What Olofmeister Could Bring to FaZe Clan Upon His Return

However, the return of olofmeister can only be a positive thing for the CS:GO scene as a whole, with the Swede having amassed a significant following over recent years, thanks in part to his unique character rand gaming style. Many Esports fans will tune in just to see how he fares, while if he can return to somewhere near his best form, we could well see a new FaZe Clan in the future. The veteran is unlikely to act as the team’s leader, however he could well be the ace in the pack to see them make it out of Group B, which features BIG, Team Vitality and Complexity Gaming.

We will not have long to wait to see whether the reports surrounding the return of Olofmeister are true, with FaZe Clan taking on BIG on October 29 at 19:30 CET.
