League of Legends champions still cost too much Blue Essence for some players. Users have made their opinion known in a post on the game’s official subreddit.

A recent post on the League subreddit claims that Riot has not been updating its website’s official “Permanent Champion Price Reduction” page. This information is accurate but omits an important detail: Riot continues reducing champion prices in the actual league customer store. Regardless of the integrity, many fans are still upset with the costs.

Indeed, the official website is not updated since the launch of Akshan in July 2021, but champions see their BE and RP cost reduction at the same rate as always.

As is tradition, Riot reduces the Blue Essence cost of a League champion each time a new champion is added to the game. Unfortunately, the schedule for lowering the price of sponsors is 32 champions behind the current curve; this means that 32 new additions must be added to the league roster for a winner priced at 6300 BE to be reduced to the 4800 eventually BE threshold.

Price changes

Recently, Aurelion Sol, the 130th champion added to the league, saw a price reduction to 4800 BE just as K’Sante, the 162nd champion on the roster, was introduced.

The list of champions continues to grow, and at the same time, the cost is reduced. The next game champion to be added is Milio; at the time of release, Taliyah’s price will be reduced from 6300 to 4800 BE.

Release of champions

The main problem with this programming process is that the champion releases are less numerous and more spaced out from each other. In the past, new champions were added more frequently. However, on average, Riot has only been releasing five champions per year since 2019, which means that champions from almost six years ago are still at the highest cost threshold in the league store.

In 2016 Kled was added; this cost the same amount of BE as K’Sante, the freshest champion in the game at just over two months old.

Milio is planned to be the next league champion; this one has no release date yet. Riot plans to release at least four champions for this 2023, although more announcements could come later. If only four champions are released this year, the cost of Camille will be reduced, followed by Xayah and Rakan.
