Following the benching of Demon1 and Marved, there were heavy rumors that s0m and FNS would return to the NRG roster. The pair, having focused on content creation since stepping back from the roster, has been teasing their fanbase, but the news is finally official.
Despite signing one of the most star-studded rosters in Valorant history, NRG could not make its lineup work with Demon1 and Marved, and ultimately decided to part ways after two failures at VCT Americas Kickoff and VCT Americas Stage 1.
At Kickoff, NRG was eliminated by Sentinels, who eventually won the tournament and Masters Madrid to become world champions. This loss was somewhat excusable, but the squad’s performance at Stage 1 was not. NRG finished dead last in their group with a 3-3 score, not even making it to the Playoffs.
FNS and s0m was a part of the previous iteration of NRG, when ardiis was still in the team. Though the roster was built to lift trophies, the North American squad did not achieve too many results, but at least qualified for significant events and made several deep runs at VCT LOCK//IN and Masters Tokyo.
Since the two buddies left the team and focused on content creation, both streamers were holding watch parties and grinding ranked matches to stay in shape. Despite having up to tens of thousands of viewers per stream, FNS and s0m are itching to compete, and ultimately rejoined the roster.
They’re back.

The updated NRG roster is:
- Ethan “Ethan” Arnold
- Austin “crashies” Roberts
- Victor “Victor” Wong
- Pujan “FiNESSE” Mehta
- Sam “s0m” Oh
- Chet “Chet” Singh (coach)
We can expect to see several role changes within the team. Previously, s0m would play Controller agents, while ardiis was the team’s primary Duelist. However, the 21-year-old will likely take Demon1’s role and play the Duelist role. We should see s0m playing Jett, while Raze could be played by Victor.
FNS will likely play Controller, as that was what Marved previously played on the team. Most importantly, the Canadian should be shouldering the in-game leader role, which is crucial since the previous roster did not have that commanding voice.
The IGL reins have been handed back to their rightful owner 🧠

The returning members must steer the NRG ship in the right direction. After failing at the two previous events, NRG only has 3 Championship Points, which are required to qualify for the end goal: VCT Champions 2024.
To qualify for Champions, NRG must find a high placement in the upcoming Stage 2 tournament, as it is the final event that distributes Championship Points. Otherwise, the team will have to go through qualifiers, which could be a bloodbath.
NRG’s first match with the new roster is set for June 23 for the Americas Stage 2 event. Their first match is against the Sentinels and will be played in a Best of 3 format.
