Nouns are close to causing a big upset in NA’s Division I

Nouns are one of the strongest teams in North America but they are generally regarded as one of the underdogs, simply because Shopify Rebellion and TSM are much stronger competitors. However, this Tour they’ve had a phenomenal run, winning their first four matches without losing a single game.

Because of these results, nouns have a real chance of securing a top two spot in the league and qualifying for the Berlin Major. But to achieve this goal, they need to win one of their next two matches. The opponents are the best teams in North America: TSM and Shopify Rebellion.

The current situation in North America

In Tour 1 of Dota Pro Circuit 2023, North America was dominated by TSM and Rebellion. These two teams had perfect records until they faced each other in the last match of the tour. TSM won the battle and became the winners of Tour 1.

In Tour 2, the direct match between Rebellion and TSM took place much sooner and once again, TSM won. Because of this victory, the team led by Enzo “Timado” Gianoli seems to be on its way to winning the second Tour as well. So far, nobody was able to beat them in the region and it will be difficult for nouns to be the first to do it.

Rebellion’s current record is 3 W – 1 L. TSM’s is 3 W – 0 L. To maintain their lead, nouns will need to win one of their next two matches. Ideally, they should win the one against Rebellion because that would make it easy for them to qualify for the Major.

If they win against TSM but lose against Tal “Fly” Aizik’s team, this will almost certainly create a tiebreaker because all three teams will finish with a record of 6 W – 1 L. If that happens, nouns’ chances of finishing in the top two are small.

In Tour 1, nouns lost against both teams but managed to win a game against TSM. Since then, they have become much stronger and have a real chance of causing a big upset in the league.

For Rebellion, missing the Major would be a serious problem. They absolutely need to finish Tour 2 in a good position and then secure another top eight spot at the Berlin event. Otherwise, they are running the risk of failing to secure a direct invite to The International 2023. And the future of the team depends on its TI12 participation
