Nitr0 Wants To Return To Counter-Strike

fragster Radu M. M. 25. June 2024

Nitr0 is one of the most famous players in Counter-Strike. He made his reputation between 2015 and 2020, while competing for Team Liquid.

Then he decided to leave the esport for almost a year and a half. During this time, he played Valorant and built a reputation for himself while competing for 100 Thieves. However, his Valorant career wasn’t nearly as successful as his CS:GO one.

In the end, he decided to go back to what he did best and started competing for Liquid again. That lasted for one and a half years, from January 2022 until June 2023.

After failing to win any trophies, nitr0 abandoned Counter-Strike one more time. In January 2024, he joined a Valorant team again. But this time, he was signed by M80, which was not exactly a world-class competitor.

Now, six months later, nitr0 is rumored to be interested in CS2 again. He’s already been benched by M80 and will probably replace cadiaN on Liquid’s roster, if the organization is still interested in him.

Can Nitr0 Make A Comeback?

On the surface, given that he hasn’t played top CS2 in a long time, he doesn’t seem to be good enough to help Liquid achieve better results.

Despite being benched, cadiaN did a pretty good job and kept his team in the top 10 at many important tournaments. Without his leadership and with nitr0 out of shape, we shouldn’t expect much from Liquid in 2024.

We don’t know yet if nitr0 will be offered another chance. But we know for sure that he will ask to be given that chance because in his recent declaration, he made it clear that he intends to give CS2 everything he has. Apparently, Valorant was not what he expected and CS2 is once again a lot more appealing.

The decision to immediately include nitr0 in the active roster would be a very risky one. He will need at least a few months to get used to the game and stop thinking in Valorant terms. But it’s not impossible for him to become one of the world’s best again.

If he does return, nitr0 will likely be the team’s IGL. But how will he lead a CS2 team if he hasn’t trained properly in a long time? In this version of Counter-Strike, it’s a lot harder to win. And the competitive scene is full of formidable teams.
