Nigma Lose MinD_ContRoL to Covid-19 for the Singapore Major

ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 is knocking at the door but Nigma will need to play with their coach rmN- instead of MinD_ConRoL, because the Bulgarian player tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently recovering from the illness. According to the team’s announcement, he’s doing much better but is still ill and has not joined the rest of the crew for their bootcamp in Jordan.

Nigma’s Chances

As a result of this loss, Nigma will most likely struggle at ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021. The team has several strong players and KuroKy to rely upon, but the preparations they will make with the modified lineup are likely to be insufficient for the competitive level they will encounter at the tournament.

Nigma’s opponents will be the following: Team Liquid, Vici Gaming, PSG.LGD, T1, and AS Monaco Gambit. In its current format, their lineup is probably weaker than at least 3 of these teams. So it’s going to be a tough challenge to survive the Wild Card. Only two teams advance to the Group Stage and if I had to guess, I’d say that Vici Gaming and Team Liquid will be the winners. Or, if PSG.LGD manages to find a winning formula, perhaps both Chinese teams will move on.

Other Player Losses

Nigma is not the only team that lost a player for ONE Esports Singapore Major. Plenty of other competitors seem to have the same problem. For example, Natus Vincere will need to replace both Iceberg and ALWAYSWANNAFLY with RAMZES and Mag. Quincy Crew will play without MSS. His replacement is MiLAN. T1 need to play without Kuku. Forev is going to replace him. Neon Esports won’t have Natsumi-. His replacement is going to be Rappy.

With all of these last-minute roster changes, ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 is going to be a wild tournament to watch.
