The final week for rostermania 2022-2023 DPC season is approaching. Teams from various regions try to rebuild their rosters to reach new heights with fresh new recruits and veterans alike. However, for Western Europe region, the news for rostermania were silent regardless of rumours from enthusiasts. Yesterday, the silence was finally broken as Nigma Galaxy announced that they are parting ways with their coach — Roman “rmN-” Paley.

Early days and success

Roman “rmN-” Paley joined the squad lead by Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi back in their Team Liquid days as a replacement for the team’s former coach Lee “Heen” Seung Gon. Within a year of his help, the team’s result started to improve, this is reflected by Team Liquid’s achievement in the 2019 season. Team Liquid won MDL Macau 2019 and constantly placed top 3 in multiple tournaments that  followed the Major with the expectation of ESL One Birmingham 2019. It was also because of him Team Liquid were able to make a legendary lower bracket run to the grand finals at The International 2019 where the team got defeated by OG.

Expectations & Reality

After their run at The International  2019, rmN- left Team Liquid along with KuroKy and the squad, to join the team founded by Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi known as Team Nigma. In 2021 , the team merged with Galaxy Racer to form Nigma Galaxy.  Success followed them in Team Nigma, as the team managed to put out brilliant results in 2020. However due to a pandemic in 2020, the team started to display mixed results. The results then  transcended everyone’s expectations as the team performed poorly in their 2021 season, failing to qualify for the The International 2021.  During their 2021-2022 DPC season, the team had their worst year yet, going on 6 lose streak in Tour 2, the team was relegated to Division II for Tour 3. At Division II, the team took swift wins proving that they still have what it takes however going into the qualifiers for The International 2022, they were eliminated once again. This marks their 2nd consecutive year where they did not make it to The Internationals. Moreover, the team has been on decline since their 2021 DPC season, even though they have a star-studded line up.

The team has been hinting at a major roster change going into this new season. Also the team’s support player Maroun “GH” Merhej assured the fans the team has it all together and that they are trying to finalize the last couple of things before announcing their new roster.  With the departure of their coach, Nigma Galaxy has officially announced their first change in roster, hoping to ignite the fire that once burned inside them.
