Riot Games has joined forces with the famous jewelry company Tiffany and Co. to redesign the prestigious League of Legends Worlds trophy. Tiffany is now the official designer for the Summoner’s Cup for Worlds 2022 and it seems it’s about to give us a banging trophy.

After partnering with luxury apparel designer Louis Vuitton, who designed the bespoke trophy case for the 2021 World Cup, Riot Games announced another luxury designer as a partner for its biggest esports competition. The jewelery manufacturer Tiffany and Co., achieved cult status mainly through the well-known film Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

A true symbol of luxury

The Summoner’s Cup is always on display at the League of Legends World Championships, one of the biggest and most prestigious events in esports. Only the best of the best will hold this trophy in their hands, so it’s no wonder why Riot decided to trust Tiffany when it comes to gems.

The Cup has remained unchanged since Worlds 2012, and this will mark the first redesign of the iconic trophy in a decade. A teaser image of the new trophy shows that the cup retains a distinctive sterling silver design with blue gems. It’s also quite heavy, weighing more than 22 kilograms. Crafted over a period of four months by Tiffany’s skilled artisans, the cup is a true symbol of luxury.

Alexandre Arnault, Executive Vice President of Product at Tiffany & Co., commented:

“We are excited about our partnership with League of Legends Esports and the opportunity to be a part of the brand evolution for the world’s most popular esport. Creating the Summoner’s Cup is another important moment for Tiffany in the world of esports and also an exciting new chapter in our 160-year legacy handcrafting sports trophies.”

While this is a unique partnership for the esports world, it is not the first time Tiffanys has designed for esports before. The company is also the designer of the Silver Dragon Cup awarded to champions of the LPL. Tiffany also makes trophies for other major sporting events, including Super Bowl, US Tennis and the NBA Finals.

Worlds schedule

The new Summoner’s Cup will make its debut this year as the League of Legends World Championship returns to North America for the first time in 6 years. The tournament starts on September 29 in Mexico City with the play-in phase and runs until October 4. The group stage then continues three days later in New York City and will be played again in two phases of 3 days each, from October 7-10 and from October 13-16.

The competition will continue in New York City with the quarterfinals between October 20-23, while the semi-finals will take place in Atlanta on October 29-30. The Grand Final is scheduled for November 5 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
