Sony has just dropped an official new PlayStation 5 system update, one that comes with two long-awaited features. The new update is being rolled out worldwide today and includes a new Power Saver mode alongside a much-requested feature that will allow players to sync DualSense controllers between multiple devices without having to resync repeatedly.

Lower Energy Consumption
The new addition of Power Saver Mode helps the PS5 reduce energy consumption by lowering performance somewhat. Asserts the gaming performance degradation is extremely minimal, but nevertheless provides an opportunity to save additional energy.
Supported Games
There are limited games supporting this mode currently. The games that are reported include Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Ghost of Yotei, and Demon’s Souls, with additional titles on the way later.
Update Details
File Size
The update is approximately 1.3 GB, and as always, it needs to be installed by PS5 users.
Storage Change in Digital Edition
From Europe, there are reports that the PS5 Digital Edition is coming shipped with less storage, down from 1 TB to around 825 GB. The cause is not clear as of yet, and it seems counterintuitive given that games already consume so much space these days.

Easier Switching for Users
With this feature, the DualSense controller can be paired to a maximum of four devices simultaneously. So players who switch between PS5, PC, or even mobile do not have to re-pair again and again. It saves time and reduces the repeated pairing process.
What Players Should Do
After Updating
- Verify if your own games are supported with Power Saver mode.
- Try using the DualSense for all your devices to see if it works stably.
- Play in both normal and Power Saver to experience the actual performance difference.
- If you have the new Digital Edition with reduced storage, plan ahead for downloads, or acquire an external storage solution.
