After yesterday’s fantastic Soraka reveal, it was only natural for Riot to tone things down a bit and announce a much smaller set of Legends of Runeterra cards, most of which, in this case, are tied to Ionia!

But even though there’s nothing overly bombastic this time around, there’s still quite a lot to unravel so let’s begin!

New Ionia Legends of Runeterra Cards

As Riot already mentioned, the point of their second set (titled Monuments of Power) is primarily to bolster and empower existing regions. Targon is already a bit too strong (in no small part thanks to Aurelion Sol, Leona, and Diana), which means other regions like Ionia and Piltover need a bit of love as well. Bilgewater is getting Tahm Kench, Shadow Isles already has Nocturne, so it’s time to shift our attention over to the region of speed and elusiveness: Ionia.

Trevor Snoozebottom” is a 3 mana unit with 0 | 3 and a Support effect. Once this effect is activated, you’ll get an attacking “Mumblesprite” that will copy all of Trevor Snoozebottom’s supported ally’s stats. So in other words, the stronger the supported ally, the stronger the Mumblesprite. Overall, quite an interesting card. Still, it won’t live too long thanks to its squishy nature, but it’ll definitely do some damage before going down for good.

Mumblesprite” is a 3 mana unit with 1 | 1 along with Elusive and Fleeting. Pretty basic stuff, although the fact that it’s Elusive might prove quite overwhelming. That’s especially true if you can copy some beefy stats thanks to Trevor Snoozebottom.

Nopeify!” is a 2 mana Fast spell that has a simple effect: stop a Fast or Slow spell that costs 3 or less mana. Again, nothing too spectacular, but a solid addition to Ionia decks.

New Piltover Cards

As far as Piltover is concerned, we’re getting only two cards, but both are seriously fascinating. Heck, maybe that’s even an understatement.

First of all, we’re getting a Piltover landmark called “The University of Piltover.” It’ll cost you 5 mana, but it has a hugely impactful effect. At the start of each round, you’ll discard your entire hand. You’ll then receive 3 random cards with the Fleeting effect. This, of course, is sheer RNG. There’s no other way to describe it. Still, if you have a bit of luck on your side, this card could end up turning the tides of battle. Say you discard just a single card and receive three new ones. That’s quite a benefit, especially come late game.

As far as landmarks go, this is quite a darn good one, even though you’ll have very little control (or no control, rather) over its benefits.

Finally, there’s “Patched Porobot,” a 2 mana unit with 2 | 3. While this poro isn’t all that strong, its effect definitely is. While it’s in your hand, it’ll have a random keyword that changes with each new round. Once you summon it, however, the keyword that was active prior to the summon will become permanent. This means that it’s a jack of all trades kind of unit. It’ll adapt to whatever you need, be it Elusive, Overwhelm, Vulnerable, or something else entirely. It’s not exactly a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination, but a well-placed Patched Porobot can easily cause a fair bit of chaos.

Closing Remarks

That’s it for today! We didn’t get a whole lot this time around, but a couple of cards for Ionia and Piltover will surely delight many players across the globe. Regardless, there’s still one more champion left, so expect some big news in the next twenty-four hours! As always, we’ll bring you any updates from the moment they hit the web!
