Team Canada’s performance at the Overwatch World Cup has been spotty, with rankings as high as second place in 2017. However, this year the country brought some changes to its committee.

The Canadian Esports Organization appoints Leena Ly-Matz and Danny Mychakov as the new general manager and head coach of Team Canada for the Overwatch World Cup 2023. Both individuals have extensive knowledge and experience in the competitive gaming scene. They will be instrumental in guiding Team Canada to success at the upcoming event.

Fareeha Anderson, Defiant’s Toronto-based content developer, joins this great duo and will work as the nation’s social officer.

About Leena Ly-Matz, the new General Manager

Leena Ly-Matz is a well-known figure in the eSports industry. She is a former professional gamer who competed at Overwatch’s highest levels.

Ly-Matz, who has been with Canucks Sports & Entertainment for two years, has served as the operations services coordinator for the Titans and the Seattle Surge of the Call of Duty League. In addition, she has been part of the Overwatch League as a commentator.

Leena Ly-Matz has served as the Titans’ player-manager since January.

Leena is an excellent leader, and her experience and passion for the game will be invaluable to Team Canada.

About Danny Mychakov, the new head coach

Despite not having a particularly notable playing or coaching background compared to the competition he will face from teams such as the United States and the United Kingdom, Mychakov joins the committee as the most experienced member of the group.

The 20-year-old served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Reign last season after spending the previous three seasons as the team’s analyst. In 2018 and 2019, Mychakov worked as an analyst for Canada. Canada finished third in 2018 but failed to advance to the group stage the following year.

Mychakov is an experienced strategist and communicator, making him the perfect person to lead Team Canada. Danny has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be essential in helping the team reach its full potential.

About Fareeha Anderson, Social Lead

Fareeha Anderson is an experienced Overwatch analyst with a deep knowledge of the game. In addition, she is an excellent communicator and has experience working with teams in the competitive scene. She will be a valuable addition to the team.

With the appointment of Leena Ly-Matz, Danny Mychakov, and Fareeha Anderson, Team Canada is in the best possible position to succeed at Overwatch Cup 2023.
