New Dota 2 update — changes in patch 7.31d

Valve released the 7.31d patch which has the potential to shake up the ongoing Dota Pro Circuit Tour 3. Besides major balance changes, the developers also revealed a new Battle Report feature as a part of Dota Plus. 

New features, changes to cosmetics, improved Clip Builder, expanded Shard slots and balance updates — these are just a few changes that came with the new Dota 2 update.

Dota 2 Battle Report update

Subscribers of Dota Plus get a new feature called Battle Report, which offers insights about games played. The Battle Report reveals all the information about the player’s performance in each match during the last season and calculates the best hero and role for the player, along with other statistics.

On one single page, the feature highlights all the trends, features, and streaks such as max hero damage or max kills. Furthermore, players receive bronze, silver, and gold medals for achievements which are transferred to shards. All Dota Plus members receive the report automatically at the beginning of the new game season.

Weekend spotlight

Weekend Spotlight is another new feature that puts a different Dota 2 game mode into the spotlight each week for everyone to try. Each Weekend Spotlight will be available for approximately one week and will feature one selected game mode or event with Shards as a reward. The first Weekend Spotlight features Ability Draft and is available from June 8 to 13. The next one is Overthrow Trios, an updated version of the mode, available from June 16-20.

General Updates

Changes made to the game include cosmetic items — players can now equip Immortal items with spell effects regardless of which item is armed and therefore mix and match the looks of their characters.

Clip Builder has also gone through some changes — players can now take high-quality resolution clips and edit them directly in the game with an option to hide UI without using third-party tools. To be able to record a specific moment, developers made an advanced timeline that displays the exact amount of kills.

Valve has also improved the “Avoid Player” system. Gamers can now insert notes on why they want to avoid someone in matchmaking.

Furthermore, Shard slots have been expanded to 35,000 and more items can now be bought for shards, including kill streak effects, seasonal treasures, as well as item sets that were released earlier. Moreover, Hero Relics are now available for every player, not only Dota Plus subscribers.

Dota Plus also got an update — players can finish quests to earn shards offering up to 115,200 shards that can be obtained during the season. The guild rewards have also been refurbished with new emoticons, sprays, and more.

Regarding gameplay updates, Marci was added to Captains Mode and Roshan now can attack Wards if there are no other melee units in his cave. However, almost all heroes received some changes, which can be viewed on the official Dota 2 webpage.
