The first month of 2023 is about to end, and Valve released its first update last Wednesday, January 25. This update focused on the latest map added to the official Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Map Pool, Anubis.

The map has received some minor changes and was improved in some points. Among other things, adjustments were made to B-Long and the channel.

Anubis

Anubis was the last map added by Valve to the official Map Pool in November 2022. This community-created map had never been used competitively before and replaced the iconic Dust 2 in the Map Pool.

This was undoubtedly one of the most awaited updates by the CSGO community worldwide and one of the most requested by many professional players. For many, Dust 2 needed a lot of changes to get back up to par.

Changes in Anubis in the January 25 update

The developers of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valve, have changed some of the map positions. As we mentioned, the most affected are B-Long and Canal. As for the former, Ivy was trimmed, and the trimming in Ruins and B-Long was adjusted. In addition, Ruins will now be “slightly less ruined.” This should make it easier for both teams to battle in this location.

On the other hand, Canal has changed its ship, which now has an entirely different shape. Another highlight is that the water grids at the rear of the Canal have been lowered. In addition, the grenade clipping around A and B has been adjusted, whereas Valve has added some minor optimizations.

Are these changes to Anubis a good thing?

These changes, in general, should make Anubis a more playable map, even if the changes are barely noticeable. The update to this map is not surprising, as the developers tweak all maps in the official CS:GO Map Pool a few months after their release. In addition, of course, they always consider feedback from professional players.

As we mentioned, Anubis has been in the official CS:GO Map Pool since November 18, 2022, so Valve has had time to collect the necessary feedback.

On the other hand, the loyal CS:GO community is also waiting for the game’s new operation, for the last one was launched on September 21, 2021. We don’t remember when so much time has passed between one operation and another, but the community feels this update is just around the corner.
