A new squad has appeared on the CS:GO scene, represented by the Swiss esports organization TITANS. In order to expand its esports division, the organization signed the international team GORILLAZ.

Many thought that this was a rebranding of the old French organization, but this is a completely new project, which will be geographically located in Switzerland.

Who is in the squad?

The original GORILLAZ line-up was formed in April 2021 by Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and Miikka “suNny” Kemppi, but the line-up saw numerous changes over the months as the team has met with no success. Finn suNny is the last remaining member of the initial line-up and has meanwhile secured two old acquaintances — Czech AWPer Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný and Ukrainian coach Sergey “lmbt” Bezhanov. They played together under the Mousesports organization in 2018, winning a number of titles, including the ESL One New York 2018.

The next player joining TITANS is Matias “MSL” Lauridsen, who will allegedly take on the role of in-game leader. With the average age of the four TITANS members being slightly under 30, the last two players signed by the org are a bit younger — the 20-year-old Estonian Anton “supra” Tsernobai and the 23-year-old Danish rifler Magnus “Nodios” Olsen. Supra is a former Gambit Youngsters and Nordavind player, while Nodios played previously for Danish teams such as AGF and the Copenhagen Flames.

TITANS Outlook

The players announced on Twitter that they will be attending a joint boot camp this week in order to prepare for the upcoming competitions. The team’s first official appearance has not yet been determined, but it will be interesting to see what this roster can achieve. With MSL, oskar, and suNny, the squad has three experienced players who have played on numerous stages all over the world.

That said, the team still has to do to have a chance on the international stage. The line-up has previously played together in cups and qualifiers, but never really caused a stir.

It is doubtful whether the team’s aim is to establish itself in the Tier 1 area. Precisely because both MSL and suNny have not performed at the level they had in 2018 and 2019 for years. Nevertheless, it is an exciting line-up with players who haven’t been seen on the big stage for a long time. And with TITANS, they have a solid organization in the background.

Team TITANS currently consists of the following line-up:

  • Miikka “sunny” Kemppi
  • Tomas “oskar” Stastny
  • Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen
  • Magnus “Nodios” Olsen
  • Anton “supra” Tsernobai
  • Serhei “lmbt” Bezhanov (Coach)
