Natus Vincere has donated a big chunk of its Copenhagen Major prize money to support Ukrainian efforts.
Esports Insider has reported that NAVI donated US$125,000 of its winnings to the MK Foundation. The money will reportedly go to unmanned complexes in Ukraine.
The said donation, Esports Insider reported, is part of the organization’s continuing support for its home country, with the NAVI making various donations and fund-raising events for United24.
United24 is the official initiative by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the central venue for donation efforts to help Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.
The venue is around one-third of NAVI’s US$500,000 win during the PGL Copenhagen CS2 Major, the first-ever major for Counter-Strike 2. Esports Insider reported as well that the team and players will get a share of sticker sales – figures of which are not yet publicly released.
This isn’t the first time NAVI and its star players have made major donations to the Ukrainian cause.
In 2022, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostylev has already made the first donation to UNITED24 by donating US$100,000 to buy an ambulance.
In 2023, NAVI and United24 raised over US$44,000 for the Reconstructed charity initiative – US$17,500 came from donations, and US$26,500 from their sponsor GG.BET. The funds, NAVI says, were used to rebuild a high school computer classroom that had been destroyed by a Russian missile.
NAVI also organized a tournament in 2022 featuring 20 professional players from Astralis, Vitality, Fnatic, ENCE, FaZe, Liquid, MOUZ, and BIG called “Born to Be Brave,” a charity tournament for the Ukrainian cause.
