With the lineup finally complete, viewers can witness all the action starting June 27. Four teams are kicking off the competition with a blazing MSI 2025 Play-In Stage.
MSI 2025 Play-In Stage Teams
All 10 MSI 2025 teams were seeded based on their standings in their respective region’s preceding regular season tournament. For LPL and LTA, that is Split 2. Meanwhile, LEC has the Spring Split, LCP has Mid Season, and LCK has Road to MSI.
The champions of these tournaments qualify directly to MSI 2025’s second stage, which is the Bracket Stage. The second placers, on the other hand, would have to survive in the Play-In Stage, where only two teams can advance.
Here are the MSI 2025 Play-In Stage teams who qualified from every region:
- Bilibili Gaming – LPL #2 seed
- FURIA – LTA South champion
- G2 Esports – LEC #2 seed
- GAM Esports – LCP #2 seed
In the LTA, which uniquely has two conferences, the decision regarding which team goes to which MSI stage is influenced by the First Stand Tournament (FST) results. In March, it was Team Liquid from LTA North who represented the region in FST 2025, giving their conference the advantage in seeding for the MSI.
Meanwhile, the LCK’s #2 seed, T1, skips the Play-In Stage due to the FST 2025 results, too. The region’s representatives, Hanwha Life Esports were crowned champions, earning an extra MSI Bracket Stage spot for the LCK.
Play-In Stage Bracket, Format, and Schedule
The MSI 2025 Play-In Stage will run for a total of three days, starting on Friday, June 27 until 29, 2025. Teams will play in a double-elimination bracket, where losers still have a second chance to continue with the tournament. All matches are best-of-five, implementing Fearless Draft rules.
LoL Esports announced on June 17 which Play-In teams are playing against which for the tournament’s opening matches.
