MSI 2025 will commence on June 27 until July 12, 2025 at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, Canada. This tournament introduces a revamped format with two stages, both featuring best-of-five matches with Fearless Draft:

Stage 1 – Play-In Stage

  • Four qualified teams (For LEC, LCP, and LPL: Split 2 second seed, for LTA: LTA South Split 2 winner)
  • Teams will play following a GSL format
  • Only the top two teams advance to join the next stage

Stage 2 – Bracket Stage

  • Six initially qualified teams (All regions’ Split 2 first seeds + Split 2 second seed of the region who won the First Stand 2025)
  • Two additional teams from the Play-In Stage
  • Double-elimination format

All participating teams will get their share of the massive $2 million prize pool. However, the tournament winner naturally takes the largest percentage, in addition to securing direct qualification to the 2025 World Championship. The winner’s region and the second-best performing region will also both earn an additional seed for Worlds.

Two regions have already chosen both of their representatives. The LEC and LCP will send two MSI 2025 teams, one for each stage of the competition. Meanwhile, the LPL is still waiting for its second team before determining which of them will go to which stage.

LEC (EMEA)

Movistar KOI claimed the LEC Spring Championship after defeating G2 Esports in the grand final. Meanwhile, G2 Esports earned their qualification as the runner-up. KOI will enter the main bracket directly, while G2 must navigate through the Play-In Stage first.

LCP (Asia-Pacific)

CTBC Flying Oyster dominated the LCP Mid-Season tournament, securing the first seed and direct entry to the main bracket. GAM Esports fought through the lower bracket to claim the second spot, though they’ll start in the Play-In Stage.

LPL (China)

Anyone’s Legend secured an MSI slot for themselves after winning the LPL Split 2 upper bracket finals against Bilibili Gaming on June 9. However, whether they’ll earn a direct ticket to the Bracket Stage or enter the Play-Ins will be determined by the Grand Final on June 14.

Teams Still Fighting for Qualification

For other regions, battles still rage on between contending teams to claim the six remaining spots for MSI 2025. Notably, fans are keeping their eyes on the current LCK playoffs bracket, where the stakes are higher even for claiming the second seed. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) won the First Stand 2025, earning both LCK teams a direct spot in the MSI Bracket Stage.

LCK (South Korea)

Korean powerhouses continue their qualification battles in Road to MSI, the official tournament representing the league’s Split 2. Gen.G Esports sits just one match away from MSI after their flawless regular season performance. However, current FST 2025 champion Hanwha Life Esports stands as a major obstacle in their upcoming crucial upper bracket match. Meanwhile, a “telecom war” between T1 and KT Rolster will decide who will advance from the lower bracket to fight for the second seed.

LPL (China)

The Chinese region has three remaining contenders for a spot among the qualified MSI 2025 teams. Invictus Gaming and Team WE will soon clash in the lower bracket semifinals on June 11. The winner of this match will then face Bilibili Gaming in the lower bracket finals on June 13, determining which team joins AL in MSI.

LTA (Americas)

Both North and South American conferences are still deciding their representatives. In LTA North, FlyQuest, Cloud9, and Shopify Rebellion compete for the main bracket spot. Meanwhile, LTA South sees paiN Gaming, FURIA, and Vivo Keyd Stars battling for their Play-In position. Both finals take place on June 15.
