After half a dozen CS2 tournaments in which they tried to prove to us that they are the best team in the world, MOUZ have finally won another S-tier event. What is remarkable is that they did it at ESL Pro League again.

MOUZ won the previous edition of the tournament back in October last year. Because of that and the fact that they were ranked among the best three teams in the world, we had good reason to believe that they could win the trophy. But there was one obstacle standing in their way: ZywOo.

Anyone who watched Vitality’s performance during the playoffs of ESL Pro League S19 regarded the French team as the favorite ahead of the Grand Final. We all knew that if ZywOo would have a good game, MOUZ’s chances were slim. But he didn’t.

This was not entirely his fault. The truth is that his teammates, with the exception of Spinx, did not help him at all.

Vitality vs. MOUZ: 0 – 3

The match started on Inferno, a map picked by Vitality. But after the first half (3 – 9), it was obvious that MOUZ could not lose. This pattern repeated on every single map. The scores for the first half were 3 – 9 (Mirage) and 2 – 10 (Nuke). Because of this, the audience must have been a bit disappointed.

After such a spectacular tournament, it’s a bit sad to watch a best-of-three Grand Final in which one of the teams plays far better than the other. And it didn’t happen because Vitality lacked talent. After all, ZywOo won the Player of the Year award for 2023 and Spinx was in the top five.

The fact that Vitality made it this far is an indication of their strength. But MOUZ had one day to prepare and they figured out how their opponents like to play. On every map, they managed to shut them down very quickly, getting first kills in the vast majority of the rounds.

What’s Next For MOUZ

This victory probably means a lot to MOUZ, who have already declared that they want more. IEM Cologne is taking place near the end of Summer, while the second Major of the year, Perfect World Shanghai, is scheduled for December. Until then, there will be plenty of other opportunities for MOUZ to show us what they can do when they’re confident in their chances.

ZywOo Won The MVP Award

Despite failing to win the trophy, ZywOo was still awarded the ESL Pro League S19 MVP award for his performance throughout the tournament. A quick look at his numbers tells us all we need to know.

His most spectacular match of the event was the one against FaZe Clan. In that quarterfinal, ZywOo’s score was 54 – 21, with an ADR of 142.7 and a rating 2.0 of 2.21.
