Content creator MonteCristo claims that a new LCS format is coming next year.
According to information revealed by Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, the LCS league for next season will undergo some changes. We must remember that the LCS has undergone some changes; nevertheless, the essence of the League has always been maintained.
However, the changes that have been made have not gone according to plan since the level of the League has not improved, but rather the opposite.
However, the organizers of the LCS could be thinking of giving a turn to the LCS to improve in the face of international tournaments. According to rumors, the LCS for next year could adopt the new format used this year in the LEC.
LCS to use LEC format
According to information from MonteCristo, a former Cloud9 player, the new LEC format will be the same as the North American tournament.
This means that the best-of-one matchups will last for three weeks. After that, the best eight teams will advance to the next round, the group stage.
The group stage would have a best-of-three format, where they would be divided into two groups. After each of the groups, only the two best teams will advance to the playoffs, where they will play in a double-elimination format to determine the winner of the League.
So far, this new format seems to have gone down very well in Europe. The players are happy with the possibility of playing more games, so they can have more training hours and improve their level for international competitions.
On the other hand, most spectators have been able to see an improvement in the level of the League, especially if we consider that the teams that are not up to the level are eliminated.

Changes in the LCS
As we commented, the LCS league has always been constantly changing. Usually, you see some other change every two years or less.
In 2017 we could see that the League opted for the best-of-three format; however, the following year, in 2018, it returned to the best-of-one format it had in 2016.
More recently, the League added to the competition a preseason that we could see two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022. With this experiment, they seek to gain popularity and attention for the regular season; however, for 2023, the organizers decided to eliminate the preseason.
We must wait and see if the LCS copies the LEC format. However, it is clear that if these changes are implemented, the League could take another breath of fresh air and boost it.
