NVIDIA has announced a substantial GeForce NOW expansion around Gamescom 2026, with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta among 13 games joining the cloud gaming service this week.
The beta becomes available on August 28 alongside several recent releases, while NVIDIA has also confirmed future day-one support for games including CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta arrives August 28
The biggest immediate addition is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
GeForce NOW members will be able to access the Open Beta through supported PC storefront versions on Battle.net, Steam and Xbox. The beta begins on August 28 at 10:00 AM PT, which corresponds to 7:00 PM CEST, and remains available until September 1 at the same time.
Unlike the Early Access weekend, players do not need to preorder Modern Warfare 4 to participate.
Activision has confirmed that the second beta weekend is open across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Steam, Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2. GeForce NOW effectively gives supported PC players another way to access the test without relying entirely on local hardware.

The Open Beta includes standard 6v6 multiplayer alongside Ground War: Combat Outpost and Kill Block. Infinity Ward is also adding the “Entrenched” Campaign mission and Warzone gameplay on the new Zodiac Resurgence map.
Infinity Ward is already reacting to beta feedback
Modern Warfare 4’s first beta weekend has also given Infinity Ward a substantial amount of player feedback to process.
The Early Access Beta ended on August 25, and the developer confirmed that work was continuing between weekends. Spawns, time-to-kill and movement were specifically highlighted as areas receiving attention before the fully open test begins.
That makes the August 28 Open Beta more than simply a wider access period, as players could experience a noticeably adjusted version of the multiplayer build.
Progress from the first weekend carries into Weekend Two for returning beta players, while unlockable beta rewards will later transfer to Modern Warfare 4 when the full game launches on October 23.
NVIDIA adds 13 games to GeForce NOW this week
Modern Warfare 4 is only one part of NVIDIA’s Gamescom update.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 joined GeForce NOW alongside its August 25 release, while Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and STAR WARS Zero Company arrived on August 27.
Several existing games are also gaining GOG support, including Baldur’s Gate 3, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, No Man’s Sky and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The expansion follows NVIDIA’s introduction of GOG single sign-on for GeForce NOW. Players can link their account once and automatically access supported titles without repeatedly signing into GOG when launching games through the cloud.

NVIDIA has also revealed several future games that will become available on GeForce NOW at launch.
The list contains some of the highest-profile releases currently scheduled for the coming months.

Ultimate members will be able to stream supported titles using RTX 5080-class cloud hardware, with features including DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex where available. NVIDIA is also preparing new DLSS 4.5 controls for GeForce NOW later this year.
Firefox support has meanwhile officially launched, expanding browser-based GeForce NOW access. NVIDIA says Ultimate members using Firefox can stream supported games at resolutions up to 1440p and 120 frames per second. Additional Amazon Fire TV support is also planned.
Assessment
The addition of the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta is particularly relevant because it demonstrates how cloud gaming services can increasingly participate in major launch and beta periods rather than receiving games significantly later.
For players with supported libraries but weaker local PCs, GeForce NOW provides another route into one of the biggest multiplayer tests of the year. The timing is also useful for Infinity Ward, as opening access to more players gives the studio another source of feedback before Modern Warfare 4 launches in October.
The wider Gamescom announcement is arguably even more important for NVIDIA. Securing launch support for games such as Gears of War: E-Day, Onimusha and CONTROL Resonant strengthens GeForce NOW’s position as an alternative to traditional hardware upgrades.
With new platform support, GOG integration and additional RTX features arriving alongside the games themselves, NVIDIA is clearly trying to make cloud availability a normal part of major PC releases rather than an optional addition months later.
