A new fighter–assassin hybrid is about to shake up the Land of Dawn. Sora, the 131st hero in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), just got revealed on the Advanced Server, and he looks like one of the most versatile and complex heroes in the game. With his Ascension mechanic, dual combat forms, and nine abilities in total, Sora gives a mix of burst damage, control, and adaptability that can affect the meta once he hits the Original Server.
Hero Number, Role, Theme & Special Mechanics
Sora is currently being tested on the Advanced Server, allowing players to experience his playstyle that can change forms. Based on a leak and some official information as well, it seems his Original Server release will be in December 2025, although, of course, delays are always a possibility. If there are no delays, he can likely be expected in the game before the end of 2025.
Sora is the 131st hero added to MLBB and is a fighter/assassin hero. His design allows him to quickly go into the backline and burst down enemies in the Thunder form or be durable and irritating in teamfights in the Torrent form.
The main feature of Sora’s kit is the Ascension mechanic which allows him to switch into either the Thunder or the Torrent form. The Thunder form allows players to play like an assassin, providing high burst and mobility, whereas the Torrent form feels more like a tank, giving players durability, CC and a disruptive ability in fights.
Skill Breakdown & Analysis
Passive – Mystic Surge
Every time Sora hits an enemy hero or summons, he gets a Cloudstep stack (6s duration). At 5 stacks, he can use his ultimate to ascend into Thunder or Torrent form. After ascending, another 5 stacks unlock his True Art, which upgrades the current form’s powers.
- Thunder: Extra HP converts into Physical Attack.
- Torrent: Each point of bonus Attack converts into HP.
This passive forces Sora to fight often. He needs to stay active in fights to use his Ascension fully.

| Skill | Base Form | Thunder Form | Torrent Form | Strengths & Weaknesses |
| 1st Skill – Sundering Strikes | Strikes twice → lunges forward (damage scales with HP). Dash after strike. | Thunderflash: Strikes 4 times + lunge with extra damage. Mobile burst skill. | Overwhelm: Strikes twice + slows (40%), lunge deals extra damage + stuns (0.55s). | Strong poke in base, burst in Thunder, CC in Torrent. Weakness: requires proper timing to maximize ascended versions. |
| 2nd Skill – Windstride | Leap forward → slam ground (extra damage + slow 40% for 0.55s). Cooldown reduced by 2s if hitting hero. | Thunder Rush: Leap + summon thunderstorm (damage + 50% slow for 0.5s). Cooldown reduction remains. | Skyfall: Leap + knockback to landing point, smash ground → knock airborne (0.5s). Cooldown reduction remains. | Excellent engage/escape tool. In Thunder, burst + chase; in Torrent, displacement + CC. Weakness: long cooldown in base form if not hitting heroes. |
| Ultimate – Shifting Skies | Swipe Left = ascend into Thunder. Swipe Right = ascend into Torrent. Ascension lasts ~10s. | Heaven’s Wrath: Leaps up, strikes area 15 times (Physical Damage scaling with Attack). Burst AoE. | Stormbind: Leaps up, strikes area 10 times (HP-based damage), stacking slow (10% per hit up to 80%). AoE sustain + CC. | Extremely flexible. Thunder excels at bursting squishy enemies; Torrent excels in initiation + teamfight disruption. Weakness: limited duration — reverting back to base form can leave Sora vulnera |
Gameplay Strategy & Meta Considerations

- Stacks: Always keep Cloudstep stacks active, focus on heroes not minions/jungle.
- Builds: Thunder: Physical Attack + cooldown items. Torrent: HP + durability items.
- Teamfights: Thunder: Hunt backline mages/marksmen. Torrent: Disrupt divers, peel for teammates. Weakness: depends on Ascension uptime, very punishable in base form, and needs good positioning.
Sora can change mid-fight between assassin and tank, which makes him hard to counter-pick.
- Strong vs: Squishy immobile heroes (Thunder) and positioning-reliant heroes (Torrent).
- Weak vs: High mobility assassins or CC-heavy lineups that catch him after Ascension.
For the casual player, Sora may feel uncomfortable to play simply due to stack management and switching forms, however for a player who practices Sora can absolutely be a game changer.
