The 2024 Mid-Season Cup, MLBB’s biggest esports event, is moving fast as teams have fallen and remained to form one of the most interesting brackets ever.
The knockout stage is expected to start on July 10th and will feature a myriad of teams, mostly from Southeast Asia.
Group A: No PH vs PH finals
Filipino esports fans will be disappointed to see that it won’t be a PH vs PH finals in the 2024 Mid-Season Cup.
That’s after the Knockout Stage draw results show Falcons AP Bren and Team Liquid PH will be fighting for survival in the 2024 Mid-Season Cup.
TLPH will face off against Team Falcon of Myanmar, while Falcons AP Bren will stave off a challenge against the resurgent See You Soon of Cambodia.
The winners of both matches will advance to the Group A finals, where the winner of the match will book the first Grand Finals slot.
Group B: Could it be Malaysia’s chance to finish the story?
In the meantime, no Indonesian team qualified for the Knockout stage of the 2024 Mid-Season Cup.
This has opened a wave of resurgence from Malaysian MLBB pro teams, both of which may have a chance to face off in the Group B finals.
The still-undeterred Selangor Red Giants will battle it out against the Turkish team Fire Flux Esports, the latter of which had shown immense potential during the M5 World Championship.
On the other hand, the HomeBois will slug it out against another resurgent opponent trying to put the MPL Singapore region on the map, NIP Flash.
The winners of both Match 3 and Match 4 will book the second ticket to the MSC 2024 Grand Finals.
What does this mean for the future of MLBB Esports?
Aside from winning a big chunk of the prize pool in the 2024 MSC, this can pave the way for an M6 World Championship run that will probably see a resurgence of Malaysia as one of the more competitive regions in the world of MLBB esports.
The resurgence of See You Soon and Selangor Red Giants have proved the power of the overall SEA region, which had long been seen as the most dominant and driving force in MLBB esports.
Either way, whoever wins can help in building one of the most exciting and unpredictable MLBB storylines in history. After all, all eyes will be on Kuala Lumpur after Riyadh in the world of competitive MLBB esports.
