Obsidia in Mobile Legends: Full Hero Overview and Abilities

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) expands its roster with Obsidia—Sovereign of Dark’s End, a marksman from the Abyss. Obsidia is released as part of the Project NEXT update. Obsidia is a burst damage, mobile, and control hero for the game. Obsidia’s kit revolves around the Bone Energy → Bone Shard system, which differs from heroes you would typically expect for a marksman. We will look at her lore, abilities, strengths, and where she fits into the meta.

Name, Faction, and Role

Obsidia was released on September 17, 2025, as part of the Project NEXT Update. Players were able to get her with diamonds during the launch event. This was after something like Zetian in June 2025 and almost three months after Kalea.

Obsidia is called the Sovereign of Dark’s End and is from the Abyss. She is played as a marksman and is a finisher/damage dealer. The best place to play Obsidia is in gold lane. Players may unlock her for 32,000 Battle Points or via diamond events.

Lore, Theme, Skills and Mechanics

Obsidia rises from the Abyss as a sovereign changed by darkness. Her power comes from bones and shadows. Her design uses bone shapes, glowing shards, and a purple theme. The storytelling is about transformation, not just destruction; she reconstitutes the bones of adversaries into Bones of Wrath.

Her gameplay is based on Bone Energy → Bone Shard. When she deals damage, she builds energy that becomes shards. These shards improve her basic attacks and fighting style.

Passive: Return to Bone

When you deal damage, you gain Bone Energy (more from heroes, less from minions).
At 30 energy you create a Bone Shard (max ~25 shards).
Basic Attacks consume shards, in addition to normal attack damage, each shard will deal extra physical damage as well as any item effects (lifesteal, slows, etc.).
Killing an enemy hero gives you 1 instant shard.

Impact: This makes Obsidia an “on-hit” marksman, synergizes very well with attack effect items.

Skill 1: Abyssal Bone Needle

Fires a projectile that hits enemies in a line.
Deals physical damage and adds Bone Energy.
Low cooldown, good for poke and clearing waves.

Skill 2: Phantom Shadowmeld

Grants movement speed to flee, pursue, or relocate.
If Ultimate is active, cooldown is shorter, and duration is longer.

Ultimate: Hunt of Bone

Projects Bones of Wrath in a directed manner.
On hit: Obsidia teleports to the enemy hero and creates a tether.
While tethered: enemy cannot use dashes, blinks, or knockbacks. Obsidia can walk through walls and attack while in motion. Shadowmeld is augmented and she gains additional shards.
Risk: She gets pulled close, so dangerous against tanks or burst assassins.

Stats, Strengths & Weaknesses

Strong burst damage with shard stacking.
High mobility with ultimate enhanced speed.
Tether can stop mobile heroes.
Works well with lifesteal and on-hit items.

Weaknesses

Needs precise skill use and positioning.
Weak early game without shards.

Meta Impact & Playstyle

Obsidia is believed to change Gold Lane, especially against mobile heroes. Depending on how the situation is, her ultimate tether considers channeled abilities to have a stopping effect such as assassins and dash-based heroes.

Before the match begins, she should focus on using her skill 1 to poke and pick up shards. In the mid to late stages of a match, she is better in skirmish fights because shards and items will scale and deal more damage. She is better against backline players in teamfights with her ultimate tether. She will most likely need an ally to assist her as she has to dive into confrontation. Obsidia also differs from most marksmen because she won’t only rely on raw DPS. The shard system combined with her tether adds an additional layer of strategy.

Most importantly for those who enjoy fights with risk but without the diving-your-face-in-the-water kind of approach, Obsidia is going to provide a reward for risk when executed well. Mastering her will be about deciding when to go in and when not to go in. With the release of Obsidia, gold lane gameplay provides the league with a new level of threat.
