MIBR defeated Imperial 2-1 in the PGL Antwerp Major Americas RMR. The Brazilian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team is the first to qualify for the year’s first Valve tournament.

In the supercharged three-map series, both MIBR and Imperial fought a long and hard battle. In the first map, Inferno, the Imperial squad, which features stars like FalleN, fer, and fnx, outplayed the Brazilian squad. FalleN with VINI put on an outstanding performance at T-side to win the game 16-12 and take a 1-0 lead over MIBR.

Despite winning the first round, Imperial failed to establish their dominance in the following round. MIBR retaliated immediately and took an early lead in the second map, Vertigo. They carried the momentum in the second half and with the help of “exit” the team closed the game 16-8. With a KDA of 24/16/3, JOTA was the Brazilian team’s standout performer. MIBR leveled the series at 1-1 and advanced to the final and decisive map NUKE.

Nuke, the series’ third and final map, went similarly, with MIBR winning six rounds in a row. The team jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but FalleN and the rest of the squad quickly put up a fight. In the second half, Imperial came close to tying the game, but JOTA and chelo came through for MIBR in the final moments. The duo combined for 43 frags, with JOTA having a KDA of 22/16/1 and chelo having a KDA of 21/17/2. The squad finished the map with a 16-10 score and closed the series with a much-needed victory.

MIBR missed out on the PGL Stockholm Major last year, but with this win, they appear to be back on track in a CS:GO Major. Imperial, on the other hand, has two more chances to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major and they must defeat Party Astronauts in their next match to keep their hopes alive.

FURIA beat Complexity, qualified for PGL Antwerp Major

FURIA defeated Complexity 2-0 in a different match to earn a berth in the PGL Antwerp Major. Despite being the second team to qualify for the Major, they are still the first to do it without dropping a single map. On Thursday, April 14, FURIA and MIBR will face off in the tournament’s final series. Until then, the battle will rage on, with more teams qualifying for the Major or being knocked out of the competition.
