Mega Darkrai isn’t obtained like a regular wild Pokémon. You have to do specific things after finding it:

Complete the Mission

Once you have gone through the story and finished the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 6 Main Mission, you will be asked to make the Bad Dreams Cruller Donut. This is a fixed condition to unlock the last stage of the campaign, where you’ll fight Darkrai

Get ready for the fight if you want to be victorious, as Darkrai will only use its base form in the first encounter, and then, after that, it will turn into its Mega state.

Receive the Mega Stone

Once Darkrai has been defeated and caught in the boss fight, you are rewarded with Darkranite, the Mega Stone required for Mega Evolution.

This Mega Stone is limited to one single save file only.
There are no additional copies to be found or trades to be made.
If you attach the stone to Darkrai, it will be able to perform Mega Evolution in the battle.

Equip and Mega Evolve in Battle

Using the Mega Evolution beyond the mission:

Open your inventory.
Give the Darkranite to Darkrai as a held item.
After that, if you have Darkrai in a fight, you will be able to Mega Evolve it just like the other Mega forms.
