Esports superstar, formerly of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and now VALORANT, Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip, has just announced his new VALORANT team, The Nation.

Stewie2K is well known in the esports world as a former professional CS:GO player for teams like Liquid, SK Gaming, Cloud9, and EG. But, after announcing his jump to VALORANT and not having the expected success, he is now a full-time streamer.

Now, what does this new team mean for the VALORANT community? Let’s find out.

VALORANT community responds to The Nation’s announcement

The response to the announcement of Stewie2K’s new team has been highly positive from the VALORANT community, especially in the NA region.

Fans are eager to see how the team will perform over time and how it could change the game’s competitive landscape. With Stewie2k at the helm, there is no doubt that The Nation will become one of the best teams in the league.

Who are the rest of the team?

The team newly formed by Stewie2k and who decided to join him for this new adventure are:

  • Braxton “brax” Pierce
  • Matthew “Wardell” Yu
  • Tanner “TiGG” Spanu
  • Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo

Both brax and WARDELL are former VALORANT and CS:GO players who decided to join Stewie2k for this new project. On the other hand, TiGG comes from Shopify Rebellion, while Rossy is a former TSM player.

Remember that brax was the first player to sign a professional contract in the VALORANT competitive scene in March 2020, when the game was barely launched. His beginnings were with T1; then he played three months with TSM to finally return home, where he has remained ever since.

On the other hand, WARDELL is one of the professional players who decided to jump to VALORANT in 2020 from CS:GO. The player spent almost two years playing for TSM before being signed by Version1 but in substitute status. That’s why his professional career has been on hiatus ever since.

At the time of writing, The Nation is undefeated in the tournament and will be playing for qualification to Challengers NA – Split 1 against BreakThru. Stewie2K and his team beat ODU Monarchs, StarlessGG, OTF, DMG, and Dark Ratio.

Stewie2k clarifies why they are not part of an esports organization

The player took the trouble in one of his latest streams to explain why they decided for The Nation to play independently. This is instead of joining an organization for the open qualifiers.

“The majority of players are looking for contracts. Yeah, we have offers and all that stuff, but I don’t think it’s a good idea… I’m saying this because you don’t know if you’re going to qualify for Ascension, you don’t know how far you are going to make it. People are so caught up with the short-term stuff that they’re not thinking about the long run. I don’t think jumping to an org and trying to collect short-term money is a big thing”.

What sets The Nation apart?

What sets The Nation apart from other teams is its focus on creating an open environment where its players can thrive.

Each player brings their skills to the table, allowing them to create unique strategies that will give them an advantage over their opponents. In addition, by having a diverse roster of experienced players, they can draw on different perspectives when formulating strategies or making decisions during games.

This approach gives them an advantage over teams that rely solely on individual skills.

What to expect from The Nation

All eyes are on Stewie2K’s new VALORANT team, The Nation. With an impressive roster of experienced and talented players, fans can expect great things from this team in the coming years.

It will be exciting to see how far they go on their path to greatness in competitive gaming.
