Something new is brewing. NetEase has officially announced Marvel Rivals Season 6: Night at the Museum. It features the game’s most creative hero yet. Deadpool joins Marvel Rivals Season 6 with never-before-seen flexibility as the first character who can play all three combat roles. From Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist, he can do it in one match. Season 6 brings big content updates besides Deadpool’s arrival.
Revolutionary Triple-Role Design
Deadpool breaks the usual hero rules by being able to play all three roles at once. This answers weeks of player guesses after he kept switching roles in the game menu. NetEase confirmed in a Dev Vision video that Deadpool players can change between Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist at spawn points during matches. Each of the roles gives him a different set of abilities for that job.
As a Duelist, Deadpool attacks with two pistols and katanas for high damage. While as a Vanguard, he can also become a strong front-line fighter with help from a unicorn plushie that gives him a shield so he can stand his ground. As for being a Strategist, his weapons turn into tools that hurt enemies and heal teammates at the same time. This lets him help the team in different ways.
Deadpool uses game features inspired by RPGs. This lets players upgrade certain abilities during a match by checking an in-game book while fighting. His Ultimate move charges faster when players do cool or creative actions, similar to Devil May Cry. Also, taunting defeated enemies gives a short time during which Deadpool cannot be hurt. Only one Deadpool is allowed per team in Quick Match and Competitive modes to keep things fair.
Balance Changes Target Strategist Meta Dominance
Season 6 brings balance changes to fix the current situation where the Strategists are too strong. NetEase pointed out this problem in their Dev Vision video. So, for this update, Angela, Daredevil, Gambit, and Invisible Woman are being weakened. Meanwhile, Invisible Woman’s changes focus on making her easier to defeat by altering her Guardian Shield rather than all her abilities.
On the other hand, six heroes are getting stronger to help them do better in matches. Hulk, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Blade, and Cloak & Dagger are adjusted. These changes should give players more team choices and help fight back against teams that relied too much on Strategists. NetEase said they are making these changes carefully to avoid creating new balance problems.
New Content and Map Additions
The Museum of Contemplation is a new Convoy map coming to Marvel Rivals on January 29. Releasing new content at different times keeps players interested all season instead of giving everything at once. The Times Square map is also getting updates. There will be a Photo Mode and the Clobberin’ Club.
Meanwhile, the Team-Up abilities are changing. The two new combos and two were being removed. Parker Power-Up now lets Peni Parker and Spider-Man throw Web-Bombs together. Meanwhile, Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box lets Deadpool and Jeff the Land Shark make healing sprinklers that also block enemy vision with lots of visual effects.
At the same time, Ever-Burning Bond (Human Torch–Spider-Man) and Rocket Network (Rocket Raccoon–Peni Parker/Star-Lord) are being removed. A new Doctor Strange Team-Up will return in Season 6.5, but NetEase has not shared details yet.
Hero Proficiency System Overhaul
The Hero Proficiency system is getting big updates to fix player complaints about slow progress. Higher limits for each hero let players keep leveling up. While the new rewards give players more reasons to focus on their favorite characters. These rewards include Units (the game’s currency), Dynamic Avatars to show off achievements, and more items to show hero loyalty.
Other Season 6 changes include removing Resource Rumble from Quick Match on January 16, but it will return later as a bigger 18 versus 18 mode. Marvel Zombies is being taken out of the game for good, but NetEase says a new co-op mode will arrive in the first half of 2026. Players who like playing against the game instead of other players will still have options.
Final Thoughts
Season 6 update feels like a confident step forward for the game, mixing bold new ideas with important improvements. Marvel Rivals added Deadpool with the triple-role, which makes heroes more flexible than ever in Season 6. It also balances changes and system updates show NetEase is listening to player feedback. With regular new content, better ways to level up, and a clear effort to fix game balance, we already see that Season 6 sets a promising direction for both competitive and casual players.
