The newest Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 update has been released, bringing a significant balance update that adjusts nearly every portion of hero performance. In addition to an array of buffs and nerfs, the patch has also adjusted team-up kills and introduced a brand new duelist, Daredevil. Overall, these updates are meant to smooth out gameplay flow and keep the competitive scene changing.

With this patch, several heroes are stronger and more dynamic.
Angela’s Divine Judgement now grants 40 bonus health for each enemy hit and 20 for sharing space with nearby allies, allowing her to engage in fights longer. Venom can now deal a 30% healing reduction effect through Feast of the Abyss, allowing him to be a more viable anti-healer.
Blade is the biggest beneficiary, with a longer attack range on Daywalker Dash, a greater combo duration while using Bloodline Awakening, and a new reward for landing all hits of Whirlwind Slash. Hela should now feel much smoother with Astral Flock, as the cast buff has been reduced and now (upon activation) rewards her with 25 health. Psylocke’s Dance of the Butterfly has received a buff as well. Her strike damage has been increased from 150 to 170, and she has had her self-slow reduced to a mere 15%, making her more maneuverable during fights.
Mister Fantastic receives a beneficial one-second immobilize effect after a successful Distended Grip, which gives him additional control potential. Iron Fist has also been adjusted slightly; his fixed damage, from 9, is reduced to 8, and his %-based damage increases from 2.7% to 3.1% of the enemy’s max health. Lastly, Rocket Raccoon’s C.Y.A. ultimate increases damage by 40% in effect instead of 25%, which will provide a noticeable power spike in team skirmishes.
Hero Nerfs
On the contrary, a few heroes have been toned down. Human Torch’s Fire Cluster does less damage, and there is now a brief delay before ammo regenerates, along with a slight decrease in movement speed while using his Plasma Body. Phoenix cannot stack Sparks with her melee attacks any longer, and Dark Ascent now has a one-second cooldown with no ammo regen.
Cloak & Dagger’s ultimate costs more energy to use, Jeff the Land Shark has reduced crit resistance, and Ultron’s healing and ultimate efficiency have been reduced as well.
New Hero and Team-Ups
The new hero is Daredevil, a duelist who uses melee accuracy and a radar-like perception to locate enemies behind walls. Paired with The Punisher under Bestial Hunt, added survivability and damage is on the table. Hela is matched up with Namor, while Ragnarok Rebirth and Gamma Charge have been tweaked and even removed entirely.
Overall, the Season 4.5 update changes the meta with some smart tuning and returns to a more grounded approach with hero balance. With the addition of Daredevil and the changes to mechanics, it feels like the game is ready to move into a more competitive and diverse next phase.
