With three new legendary players on board, MAD Lions appears locked and loaded for the LEC Winter Split 2023.

MAD Lions have acquired Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov, one of Europe’s most prominent support players, to round out its roster for the LEC 2023 season. Hylissang, who played for five seasons under the Fnatic banner alongside well-known players like Martin “Rekkles” Larsson and Elias “Upset” Lipp, has made a name for himself as one of the top support players in Europe thanks to his incredibly aggressive playstyle.

Earlier this week, MAD Lions acquired Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság as its new AD carry and Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon as its new top laner, strengthening an already strong lineup with tremendous firepower of the dynamic pair. Carzzy is making his comeback to the team with which he won two LEC titles and qualified twice in a row for the World Championship in 2020 and 2021. At the start of 2022, Carzzy left the organization to join Vitality’s superteam in hopes of dominating the LEC. However, the AD carry is returning to his former team after having a dismal season with Vitality’s star-studded squad, who struggled to stay on one page and failed terribly throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the emerging South Korean player Chasy will take the top lane position in the team, replacing the Turkish sensation Irfan “Armut” Tükek in the upcoming 2023 season. Furthermore, Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla will remain with MAD as their jungler for the remainder of his contract, which expires next year, despite receiving offers from other LEC teams such as Fnatic and G2 Esports.

MAD Lions LEC roster:

  • Javier “Elyoya” Prades
  • Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság
  • Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon
  • Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev
  • Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer

MAD Lions bids farewell to Armut and Kaiser

After three years with the MAD Lions, Armut and Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser parted ways with the organization, entering free agency for the first time since their debuts in the professional scene. Having won two LEC Championships with the MAD Lions, they both were able to establish themselves as the league’s finest players in their respective positions throughout their time with the European squad.

With their aggressive playing style and brilliant laning skills, Armut and Kaiser helped MAD Lion establish a reputation as one of the most ferocious teams in the league. According to reports, the Turkish top laner will join Team Dignitas in North America for the 2023 LCS season. Kaiser, on the other hand, is reportedly moving to Vitality as the organization looks to restore its reputation within the LEC community after falling short of expectations in the 2022 season.
