Indonesia’s Alter Ego creates history as they become the first team to qualify for the M7 Knockout Stage. This Indonesian squad managed to deliver a flawless performance with three consecutive victories in the Swiss Stage. What sealed their spot in the Knockout Stage was their 2-0 victory against Yangon Galacticos in Round 3.

Nino particularly stood out with his exceptional individual performances throughout the matches. He significantly helped Alter Ego to dominate the games against Black Sentence Esports and Yangon Galacticos. With that, they are off to chase Indonesia’s first M World Championship crown since M1.

On the other hand, Malaysia’s Selangor Red Giants (SRG) confirmed to join Alter Ego in the Knockout Stage. They successfully won in a comeback against the crowd favorite, Team Liquid PH. The Mid Season Cup 2026 pulled a reverse sweep against TLPH to finally end their 10-match winning streak.

Moreover, John “Innocent” Banal adds a record to the M World Championship history after securing a Savage during the first game. Despite the impressive performance with Sora, they ultimately lost the teamfight. Still, SRG rallied in games 2 and 3 to finally secure their spots in the Knockout Stage.

While other teams celebrate their victories, teams such as China’s DianFengYaoGuai and Turkey’s Boostgate Esports exited the tournament. They failed to secure a single win in their respective pools that led to the early eliminations. The Chinese squad struggled to compete against more established regions in the World Championship.

Meanwhile, Boostgate Esports who secured their M7 Spot through Wildcard Stage ended their campaign in a match against CFU Gaming. Their failure to adapt to the higher level of competition in the Swiss Stage brought the consecutive loss against tougher teams.

Also, one of the tournament’s biggest upsets occurred upon Myanmar’s ‘Yangon Galacticos win against ONIC Indonesia in Round 2. Their star player, Ying, helped deliver exceptional performances and outplayed the Indonesian favorites. Despite the initial success, they ultimately lose against Alter Ego in the following round.
