A few days ago, Riot Games released the first cinematic of the year regarding the upcoming League of Legends Lunar Revel event titled “Hop On.”

In this video, Rio shows the different champions of the game in Lunar Revel attire flying through other colorful vignettes on a magic bus. There is no dialogue in this cinematic, so it is a purely visual video, and we can’t deny that it is very well animated with designed 2D and 3D images.

Lunar Revel 2023 cinematic

This video comes just a day after Riot released a cinematic that did not meet the expectations raised by the community. For fans point out that they are disappointed because it is the official announcement of the start of the qualifying season.

Throughout the history of League of Legends, developers usually present a cinematic to kick off each season. However, this video is focused on the champions, which creates more anticipation and excitement for the adventure of the new Qualifier Season.

However, many fans were disappointed to see a video that did not live up to Riot’s usual presentation. Below, you can watch the cinematic in question.

The reaction from the community to this video that kicks off the 2023 season was so decisive that the official League of Legends Twitter account apologized to the fans. The message highlights:

“This year, some unprecedented circumstances had us choose an alternate approach to the Season 2023 video. However, we believed it could still embody League’s broad universe and competitive spirit while celebrating the start of a new season.”

“But we’ve heard your feedback, and we want to acknowledge Brink of Infinity missed the mark for the action-packed, champion-led trailer you expected and has led to further speculation about our investment in League.”

The video regarding Lunar Revel 2023 angered fans even more

After watching the Lunar Revel launch video, fans became angry because “Hop On” is a trailer for an event directly associated with a new line of skins.

In the social networks, we could see additional comments where fans point out that Riot has prioritized the sale of skins, not a season presentation video.

This isn’t very good in the community. It’s no secret that Riot’s way of getting revenue for their games is through skins. But there is no doubt that this is not the right way to do it.

Another fan commented:

“Wow….a skin trailer…for skins that we will never get in League PC because they are Wild Rift exclusive…..being posted to the League PC twitter…. Great..Nice attempt to try and make us forget the amazing “anthem” vid though…didn’t work.”
