On a competitive Day 7 of ALGS Pro League 2023 Split 2, Luminosity Gaming managed to spark a chaotic Dropspot roulette on Worlds Edge. Meanwhile, XSET, who are currently seeing one of the most consistent runs in ALGS history, clinched yet another win.

In today’s ALGS match, Luminosity Gaming created a chaotic scenario on Worlds Edge map, with teams chasing each other all around and swapping drops every match. That said, the squad managed to prevent OpTic Gaming’s attempts and there’s still a chance for them to qualify for LAN.

Luminosity trigger Drop Spot Roulette

With the ALGS Pro League Split 2 entering its final phases, the focus on qualifying for the LAN Playoffs grows. Teams in the qualifying phase have the wiggle room they need to focus on clearing the LAN relegation spots.

So what exactly happened? First at Storm Point, OpTic have switched their drop spot to Fish Farms to target their opponent. Then on Worlds Edge, OpTic and Luminosity fought an uphill battle for Lava City and Big Maude. OpTic certainly qualified for the LAN, while Luminosity Gaming still has some catching up to do.

The Lava Siphon Puzzle

On Worlds Edge, Luminosity didn’t want to face OpTic, instead swapping places with Lava Siphon. But Lava Siphon wasn’t just free and empty. Instead, Luminosity had to face off against two-time LAN champion DarkZero.

But things get even more complicated: In this particular group game, Oxygen Gaming ended up in the Lava Siphon. Supposedly they had previously agreed with DarkZero to swap the drop spots. OpTic then followed by sprinting to Lava Siphon in order to complete the race.

Numerous theories have been circulating on Twitter as to how exactly this situation came about. It may be that Luminosity decided to take their chances and dropped on Oxygen in Fragment in the second Worlds Edge game, which led Oxygen to switch positions and take on Drop In Gaming in the last game.

Confused? Several players were confused too. Indeed, such dances on the map are more reminiscent of the Challenger Circuit rather than the ALGS Pro League.

Luminosity Gaming grab some much-needed points

Despite all these blunders, Luminosity Gaming managed to play a solid series of rounds. They ended the day in eighth place and have moved up to 15th overall. LG still has a lot of work to do but is part of Group C, which has an edge over the rest of the region.

Luminosity may find themselves targeted again by OpTic Gaming in a next clash and could face a tough time in the Regional Finals if they become even more of a target.

Problems with the in-game audio

Following the situation, several ALGS Pro League players have complained on Twitter about ongoing audio issues they have to face in their matches. This includes a bug that causes weapons to fucntion without sound or tracer. Although Respawn Entertainment has already released several patches since the bug first appeared, the devs still haven’t been able to fix the problem.

Understandably, the frustration among pro players has meanwhile grown, and they have been very vocal about the current state of the game and its impact on the ALGS.
