Brazilian Esports organisation Imperial have announced the arrival of Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles, with the 25-year-old CS:GO pro having been on something of a hiatus since he was replaced at MiBR by Ignacio “meyern” Mayer back in December last year.

While CS:GO teams constantly altering their rosters in the hope of finding the right mix of skill and style, it still came as something of a shock when Imperial broke the news of LUCAS1’s arrival, with the former Immortals and Luminosity Gaming rifler joining on a permanent basis as a free agent.

What Will LUCAS1 Bring to Imperial?

Despite last appearing in competitive action for MiBR at the CS:GO Asia Championships 2019 in November, an event in which the organisation eventually finished in fourth position, LUCAS1 is certainly held in high regard. Replacing Denis “dzt” Fischer, the 25-year-old will team up alongside fellow newcomer Lincoln “fnx” Lau at Imperial, which could well make them a hugely competitive team. fnx is himself a two-time Major winner, with the pair having vast experience between them, something in which was potentially lacking previously. The Brazilian organisation has done well to attract such names, with fnx having previously spent the majority of his career in North America, winning the PGL Major Krakow 2017 in the process.

Why LUCAS1 Ended his Hiatus

After an announcement was made by Imperial on their social media platforms surrounding the arrival of LUCAS1 to their CS:GO roster, Teles himself admitted that he couldn’t wait to return to action. It is likely that his first appearance for Imperial will come in the semi-finals of the CBCS The Conquest, where the team will come up against Havan Liberty. LUCAS1 will also get a chance to bed in at Imperial during a training camp in Serbia, before heading to the Regional Major Ranking event in South America.

Performing consistently for the likes of Immortals, MiBR, 100 Thieves and Luminosity Gaming in the past, Teles will be hoping to quickly rediscover his competitive edge, while his experience should benefit the likes of Gustavo “SHOOWTiME” Gonçalves, Caio “zqk” Fonseca and Felipe “delboNi” Delboni, who already sit on the Imperial CS:GO roster.
