A handful of names come to mind when we think about esports comebacks. But after a strong NLC season, Caedrel shocked the esports world and returned as a support player in the NLC Summer Split for Los Ratones. And if his first match playing is any indication, he’s not stepping back in to just relive some nostalgic memories. Rather, he’s planning to come out with a bang and dominate the league with Los Ratones.
From Founders to Champions
Los Ratones is a beast in the European League of Legends. And it’s been remarkable to see their ascension and support from fans since they were formed in late 2024. Originally created by streamer and former professional player Marc “Caedrel” Lamont, the team was available for composition to be a success. Representing the Nordic region in the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) 2025, Los Ratones made waves as a contender with a line-up that brought in some bigger names from experienced veterans.
At the heart of all of this is Caedrel. He went from being a top jungler to being a well-regarded coach, commentator, and streamer. Caedrel’s fantastic game insight and stream presence allowed him to take his previous experience in esports and lead Los Ratones both as a team. During the 2025 NLC Summer Split, Caedrel made the shocking decision to momentarily step down. There, he became the starting support for the team and shared the bot lane with Rekkles.
Caedrel’s 2025 NLC Summer Split Debut
Marc “Caedrel” Lamont made an impressive return to competitive League of Legends in the 2025 NLC Summer Split. He made his debut as a support player after five years of retiring out of competitive play. Furthermore, his debut had been anticipated as he had been scrimming as a support for some time. The update to Caedrel’s role was more significant, with an even bigger update with the temporary return of Martin “Rekkles” Larsson back in his famous AD Carry role.
The game versus DMG Esports became one-sided in favor of Los Ratones. At the end of the game, Los Ratones had secured a 17.7k gold lead over DMG Esports. Caedrel’s individual stats showed how he impacted the game: he had a K/D/A of 1/1/17. And this indicates he was very involved in overall support play, leading to Rekkles’ perfect 6/0/13 on Senna. The game ended decisively at 27 minutes with Los Ratones taking down 10 turrets. They also got four Drakes and a Baron Buff, showing us how dominant the victory was.
What’s Next for Los Ratones
Aside from this one match, Los Ratones have consistently performed at an elite level during the 2025 season. Specifically, they won the Winter Split, Spring championship in the NLC, and took home two EMEA Masters titles. Thus, they have firmly established a legacy of greatness in the EMEA tier-two scene.
For the rest of the year, given Los Ratones’ adaptability and team chemistry, they have a great upswing as a contender for the championship. Currently, Los Ratones are undefeated 4-0 in the Summer group stage. Thus, they have a great path towards qualifying for the upper bracket playoffs and potentially qualifying for EMEA Masters Summer.
Final Thoughts
Caedrel’s first appearance in the 2025 NLC Summer Split was not only impressive. But it helped Los Ratones make a huge statement about their viability as a team. Although the scoreboard measures who wins and who loses, Caedrel brought a new spark of chemistry. And now, a lot of fans can’t wait to see what happens next as the season goes forward.
