In a move we did not expect, one of the last players to join the London Royal Ravens lineup, Paul “PaulEhx” Avila, has announced that he is retiring from competitive CoD.

Rumors in recent weeks

In recent weeks, there had been a lot of talk about the London Royal Ravens cutting PaulEhx from the team to make way for backup player Matthew “Skrapz” Marshall.

This does not seem to have been to the liking of the player, who confirmed this change before the official announcement of the organization and was very upset by this fact.

The former New York Subliners player had an excellent start with the organization in the season’s first phase. But it all started to fizzle the week leading up to the Stage One Major. The London Royal Ravens lost their playoff games and were not among the eight teams to earn a playoff berth.

PaulEhx decides to take a step back

PaulEhx has made it very clear in a Twitter post that he has decided to take a step back from the competitive Call of Duty scene and social media. In a TwitLonger, PaulEhx highlighted that he wants to find “balance in his life” before moving on.

In addition, the player said he would not return to compete in any team until he felt he was a better person and, most importantly, a better teammate.

In his statement, PaulEhx stated verbatim that:

“Hey guys I wanted to let you all know I need some time to find my footing in life again if I want to progress. This is me stepping away from social media and from competing until I feel that I am the best person and teammate I possibly can be.”

“I am still apart from London as their substitute, and I have their back like I know they have mine. They have been nothing but supportive of me in this situation. Thank you to everyone who supports me. I hope you will continue to support me through my journey. I’ll be back better than ever.”

About PaulEhx

PaulEhx is a player only 21 years old and has shown an excellent level of play since joining the Call of Duty League in 2021 with the London Royal Ravens.

He then became part of the North American organization Team WaR for only one month, as he immediately returned to the London Royal Ravens as a temporary substitute.

In March 2022, he joined the New York Subliners, where he spent nearly five months in the organization. Finally, he returned home to the London Royal Ravens in October 2022 after becoming a free agent.

For now, as the player himself has mentioned, PaulEhx will remain part of the London Royal Ravens as a backup. However, unlike the vast majority of substitutes in the rest of the teams, this player will not compete in the Challengers.
