fragster Stalingrad Dollosa 20. November 2025

Summary:

  • Riot Games has finally revealed Zaahen, the 172nd champion in League of Legends.
  • His abilities fit players who like to play aggressively in the top lane or jungle, and he’s very good at jumping onto enemy backline champions.
  • Zaahen also brings back a revive ability similar to the old Aatrox one, but this time it’s redesigned to be more balanced and reliable.

Zaahen, the Darkin Glaive, has finally arrived in League of Legends (LoL) Patch 25.23. Riot Games revealed him as the 172nd champion, following Yunara. His kit consists of abilities that feel very similar to other champions in-game, like Aatrox and Xin Zhao. One of these is the returning revive mechanic of Darkin champions. Here’s a simple look at how strong he is and what his abilities do.

Who Is Zaahen?

In League of Legends lore, Zaahen is a Darkin weapon like Varus and Aatrox, with titles such as The Unsundered and the Darkin Glaive. He now shares a body with another LoL champion, Xin Zhao, who was about to die in a battle and allowed Zaahen to take over so he could survive. Because they fused, many of Zaahen’s abilities look like Xin Zhao’s, but more brutal and darker. Riot showed this moment in the Twilight’s End cinematic and later previewed him during the Worlds 2025 Grand Finals.

Zaahen’s Role on the Rift

Zaahen is mainly made for the top lane, according to LoL lead designer Blake “Squad5” Smith. But he can also be played in the jungle because he moves quickly and is great at jumping onto enemies. This champion will love long fights, where he can build up his stacks and overpower his opponents. His abilities make him very dangerous in mid- and late-game team fights, especially when he dives onto enemy carries.

Zaahen Ability Breakdown

Passive – Cultivation of War

Zaahen’s whole kit is built around his passive, which lets him build up “Determination” every time he hits an enemy champion. When he gets enough stacks, he gets extra damage and can revive if he dies. This revive works like old Aatrox’s ability, giving Zaahen a second life in fights and making him very hard to kill.

Q – The Darkin Glaive

Zaahen’s Q makes his next attack hit twice, doing more damage and healing him. He can use the ability again to knock his enemy into the air. It works a lot like Xin Zhao’s Q, but it feels stronger and more suited to a Darkin champion.

W – Dreaded Return

Zaahen stabs in front of him, hurting enemies and dragging them closer. This pull helps him start fights or stop enemies from running away. Similar to Xin Zhao’s W, this move makes Zaahen strong in one-on-one battles.

E – Aureate Rush

Zaahen quickly dashes to a spot and spins his weapon to hit enemies around him. This move works a lot like Kayn’s Q and helps Zaahen move around and change positions easily during fights.

R – Grim Deliverance

Zaahen jumps up, crashes down, and hits enemies with strong damage, while also healing himself based on the damage dealt. This makes his ultimate very powerful in team fights, especially when he jumps into a group of enemies.

How Strong Is Zaahen?

Just from the preview of his abilities, many LoL players already think that Zaahen is very strong. His revive makes him hard to kill, and his dashes help him chase enemy carries easily. Since he gets stronger in long fights, ADCs will probably have a tough time fighting him. Some people even think he might be “OP” (overpowered) and could get nerfed after release.

Still, fans like that his abilities are simple to understand. Unlike some recent champions, he is pretty straightforward. He jumps in, deals a lot of damage, and comes back to life if you try to take him down.

Conclusion

Zaahen’s abilities are clearly inspired by older champions like Aatrox and Xin Zhao, which makes sense because of their ties to him in the story. With his revive mechanic added, many players will want to try him, while others may be nervous to face him in games. Like most new LoL champions, Zaahen will probably be very strong at first until Riot nerfs him. For now, he looks like a champion who can easily take over fights.
