The Summoner’s Cup is back in T1’s hands. The League of Legends Worlds 2025 Grand Final on November 9 between T1 and KT Rolster favored the defending champions 3-2, adding yet another star to their name.  After winning back-to-back titles in Worlds 2023 and 2024, this victory has now completed a historic three-peat for T1. This is also their sixth Worlds title overall as an organization.

A Dream Fulfilled

LoL Worlds 2025 T1 Make History With a Three Peat Championship

This was not T1’s first attempt at a Worlds three-peat. Back in 2017, when the team was still called SKT T1, they were also coming off two straight World Championship wins and hoped to make history with a third. But that dream ended when they were defeated by Samsung Galaxy, stopping their streak.

This year was a different story, with T1 finally securing what they once narrowly missed. Since the regular season up until the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage, the team had been struggling to get to their top form. Yet, the team that showed up in this year’s Worlds finals managed to pull off the unthinkable despite all odds.

KT and T1: The Telecom War

This Worlds 2025 T1 vs KT Grand Final was nicknamed the “ultimate Telecom War” for the history behind this matchup. The two teams have been rivals for over 13 years, representing South Korea’s major telecom companies SK Telecom (T1) and KT Corporation (KT Rolster).

Historically, T1 has dominated this rivalry, winning 53 of 70 total matches. Yet, both teams entered Worlds 2025 as underdogs. They were the LCK’s lowest seeds after inconsistent domestic seasons, but both made surprising runs. KT went undefeated in the Swiss Stage and took down Gen.G 3-1 in the semifinals, while T1 barely scraped through Swiss before defeating Anyone’s Legend and Top Esports in the playoffs.

The Final Series: Game-By-Game Recap

The Grand Final was held at the Dong’an Lake Sports Park in Chengdu, China, with an audience of over 18,00 fans. The series had a back-and-forth battle, but it was a situation that T1 knew how to navigate so well. Despite struggling early in the series and falling dangerously close to defeat, T1 managed to turn things around. Here’s how this Grand Final played out:

Game 1

KT Rolster started strong, controlling the map and building momentum early through kills. KT also got neutral objectives first and made the game look like it would be a stomp. Yet, T1 only needed two good mid-game teamfights to turn the tide of the game. They secured key objectives like Baron and quickly closed out the first win.

Game 2

KT struck back on the second game, even taking a page from T1’s book with Bdd’s Mel pick. This time, KT took advantage of T1’s mistakes and won several big teamfights. T1 tried to slow KT down and defend their Nexus, but KT’s momentum was too strong. With Bdd and deokdam leading the damage, KT eventually won the game and tied the series 1-1.

Game 3

KT looked unstoppable in Game 3 as well. Cuzz’s Dr. Mundo was nearly impossible to kill, and T1 couldn’t deal enough damage to break through their frontline. Dr. Mundo went 5-0 in the tournament so far. KT also controlled important objectives like dragons and Baron, giving them a steady advantage. In the end, they pushed down the map and destroyed T1’s Nexus, taking a strong 2-1 lead in the series.

Game 4

With KT just one win away, T1 drafted a stronger lineup. They picked Kalista for Gumayusi, one of his best champions, and gave Faker Anivia, which worked perfectly to slow KT’s attacks. Oner’s Nocturne hit every Smite and stole key objectives, leaving KT no room to fight back. T1 completely stopped KT’s momentum and pushed the series to Silver Scrapes.

Game 5

Just like in their quarterfinal against Anyone’s Legend, T1 made sure that they won the final game despite early losses. They brought the classic “wombo combo” of Galio and Camille, with Oner playing Pantheon and Keria on Leona giving them even more engage and crowd control tools. Meanwhile, Gumayusi’s Miss Fortune poured out massive damage once his teammates set up the perfect fights. T1 pushed straight to the Nexus and ended the game, sealing their historic three-peat.

Gumayusi is the Worlds 2025 Finals MVP

T1’s ADC Gumayusi earned the Finals MVP award for his overall performance in the series. Once on the Grand Final stage, Gumayusi’s Varus, Kalista, and Miss Fortune shined in T1’s winning games. Even in the matches they lost, he continued to make big plays—like nearly turning Game 3 around on Sivir while KT was closing in on T1’s Nexus.

After receiving his award from Hall of Legends inductee Uzi, Gumayusi gave an emotional speech about his struggles this season. The player faced heavy criticism earlier this year for struggling on champions like Kai’Sa and Ezreal, and was also briefly benched before returning to the main lineup. In his speech, he said he always felt pressure to prove himself—and this victory finally did just that.

Conclusion

LoL Worlds 2025 T1 Make History With a Three Peat Championship (3)

T1’s legacy is no longer something they need to earn—it’s something they continue to cement. Last year, they made history by becoming the first team to achieve back-to-back World Championship wins twice. Now, they’ve gone even further, completing a three-peat that will be very hard for any team to match. The T1 dynasty isn’t slowing down. As Worlds 2025 T1 celebrates their historic three-peat, fans are left wondering—can anyone stop them next year?
