T1 exacted revenge over Top Esports (TES) with a clean 3-0 sweep in the Worlds 2024 Quarterfinals. The reigning champions now inch closer to defending their title, securing a spot in the Semifinals bracket on their road to the Summoner’s Cup.
Held on October 19, the results of the Knockout Stage best-of-five reflected T1’s continued dominance in the international stage. The team has never missed a League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) semifinal, and their decisive win over Top Esports mean they get to keep their streak.
TES vs T1 Results: T1 Goes to LoL Worlds 2024 Semifinals
The quarterfinal match between T1 and TES saw what was expected to be a back-and-forth series quickly turn one-sided. It was a highly anticipated rematch, as the most recent result in their rivalry was a T1 loss in the Swiss Stage best-of-ones. However, all hopes for TES to bring T1 to Silver Scrapes vanished as the LCK #4 completely took game after game with extreme skill.

In a complete turnaround, the clutch gods of the LCK have once again performed when it truly matters, decisively sealing every game in the series to book their Semifinals spot. The team is set to compete on October 27 against the winner of Gen.G vs. FlyQuest, which will happen on October 20, 2024.
Breaking Down the Sweep: TES vs T1 Game-by-game Recap
The games in the series are notably slow-paced, showing the group decision-making that goes into each play. It seems T1 is just ahead in terms of strategies and teamplay, with their macros looking better than expected and their microplay staying unmatched. While both teams showed careful, methodical plays, they consistently outmaneuvered TES in critical points of the matches.
Game 1: T1 In The Driver’s Seat
The opening game showed a standoff of team tactics, with every player focused on getting good angles and positioning over making aggressive plays. TES, who is known for their aggressive playstyle, struggled against T1 who constantly move around the map and refuse to engage in any battle.
T1 prioritized securing objectives and getting out of potential teamfights in the early game. TES kept on forcing fights, finding success in skirmishes. By 25 minutes, TES have secured a 3-1 kill lead. However, the pressure maintained by T1 all throughout gave the impression that they are the ones truly in control of the game.
At minute 27, the constant threat from T1 finally materializes in a crucial Baron fight. The illusion of a close game was quickly shattered as T1 finally saw the perfect timing for an ambush. They catch TES off-guard, shifting from a defensive position towards seeking a full-on team wipe following another iconic Baron steal from Oner.

Led by Gumayusi’s Caitlyn (6/0/5), supported by Zeus on Camille and Faker on Sylas (three kills each), T1 converted their advantage into a quick 32-minute victory with a final kill score of 13-5.

Game 2: No Deaths for T1
The second game was a masterclass in League of Legends, flawless in every sense. T1 achieved a rare, perfect game with no deaths. Throughout the 33-minute match, they systematically dismantled TES without losing a single player, accumulating 15 kills in the process.

Game 2 was even slower than the previous one, with T1 once again maintaining consistent pressure that never leaves TES any room to breathe. Both teams danced around the Rift like lions on the prowl, but only T1 is able to make the pounce with Faker on his Ahri becoming an absolute menace.

With six recorded kills, T1’s midlaner was key to their deathless victory. The botlane duo of Gumayusi and Keria on Xayah and Rakan respectively showed off the popular champion combo’s might. Gumayusi added four kills to T1’s score while Keria racked up 13 assists. The Baron fight at around 30 minutes ended badly for TES as T1 secured an ace, and soon enough the South Korean team is knocking on the doors of their base, bringing an inevitable defeat.

Game 3: The Final Knockout For TES
The final game saw TES showing more resistance, recognizing their tournament life was on the line. They contested objectives more aggressively and found some early kills, giving their fans hope for a potential comeback.

Yet, even with all the determination coming from TES, T1’s momentum has simply become too difficult to halt. Zeus on Gnar was making surprising plays and contributing to T1’s teamfights. Keria with his unconventional Pyke pick proved even more devastating with his added chaos, even securing the game’s first blood. He was also key in maintaining map pressure and providing reliable assists, mostly aiding Gumayusi who shone on Xayah with a 7/0/3 KDA.

The well-fought game for TES ended in 37 minutes, with their hopes of dragging the series to the full distance shattered by T1 regaining dominance in just a few teamfights. T1 successfully closed the series 3-0 with a form reminiscent of their Worlds 2023 brilliance.

T1’s Impressive Results
Going into Worlds from a devastating Summer Splits, T1’s performance have just kept improving after their initial loss to TES. They displayed stellar execution in consecutive Swiss Stage matches, securing their quarterfinal spot that eventually led to their revenge victory. T1’s Zeus, Faker, and Keria were the stars of the series, making surprising picks work with their versatility and skill.
Now, T1 will head into the LoL Worlds 2024 Semifinals with promising results. There are two LPL teams in the other bracket—WBG and BLG—setting up what could be an LPL vs LCK match-up in the finals should T1 make it through. However, a threat looms in the contenders for T1’s Semifinal opponent. If Gen.G wins over FlyQuest, the defending Worlds champions may have to put up a significantly bigger fight before they can attempt a back-to-back win.
The stakes keep rising as we move closer to crowning this year’s world champion. Will T1’s hopes end in Paris, or will their dominant performance lead them toward London—and yet another Summoner’s Cup?
