SK Gaming has announced that no fewer than five players have been released from its academy roster. SK Prime, has struggled to make an impression during the PRM Splits, with the German org having now taken significant action. Their lineup will look far different next year as a result, with almost the entire ERL roster having now left.

The org announced this week that Marc “Canee” Behrend, Théo “Sheo” Borile, Mihail “twohoyrz” Petkov, William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen and Ricardo “Quicktimer” Schipper are all now seeking new opportunities, with all having seen their contracts terminated with immediate effect.

How SK Gaming Broke the News of the Departures

It is only starting top laner Alois Nelissen that has kept his place on the SK Prime roster ahead of the new season, with SK Gaming having told fans of their decision by posting the following message on Twitter: “To the members of SK Prime moving on – @CaneeLoL, @UnforgivenLoL, @twohoyrz1, @QUICKTIMERR & @Sheo_lol, whether you spent a long time with us or a few months, thank you for your hard work and the good times! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you & wish you the best!”

SK Prime could only manage a fourth place finish in both the Spring and Summer Splits, before being eliminated from the playoffs early on both occasions too. It remains to be seen as to what the future holds for the departing players. However, according to a report from Dot Esports, UNFORGIVEN could be on the brink of securing a move to reining LEC champions, MAD Lions.

Why UNOFORGIVEN Could Have Found a New Home Already

In what would be a major move for the 21-year-old Swede, who looks set to replace Matyas “Carzzy” Orsag, who recently joined Vitality. Others will be hoping to secure moves during the free agency period, having a decent amount of LEC experience between them. Twohoryz is one such player, having stood in for SK Gaming’s starting mid laner Ersin “Blue” Gören during the LEC Summer Split, after the Belgian was taken to hospital.

Blue was released from the main SK Gaming roster this week, news that came just days after the departure of “Lilipp”. In what has been a busy month for the org, head coach “Jesiz” having also left. Further announcements are expected in the near future regarding who will make up the SK Gaming academy lineup for 2022, with a significant rebuild being required ahead of their attempt to move back to the ERL big time.
