LoL – Perkz‘ Eye-Surgery leading to complications

Perkz‘ Eye-Surgery leading to complications during matches. Luka “Perkz” Perković, is a 22-year-old Croatian League Of Legends player who is currently playing for Cloud9. Cloud9 faced Immortals In week 5 in LCS, where tey managed to overpower the Immortals in a 33-minutes long match.

Perkz is sensitive to light now

But, one of the most interesting parts about the match was that Perkz was wearing a cap, which is very unusual, as we never see players wearing caps on stage. After the match it was revealed that perkz has had an LASIK- eye surgery a few weeks ago.

As a result his eyes are really sensitive to light now, especially to the extremely bright lights on stage and the lights coming from the computer screen. Unfortunately the LCS refused to lower the lights for him, because it says that the lights always have to have the same brightness during all tournaments played.

Perkz explained that he has been having a hard time adjusting to stage play after the surgery because of how sensitive his eyes are to the lights. The Croatian said that Riot didn’t want to lower the brightness over the past three weeks and that he even had to get a doctor’s note to be able to wear a hat while playing in competitive games.

LCS commissioner Chris Greeley apologized to Perkz via Twitter and said that the lighting levels and designs are arranged similarly with other leagues and international events and have been generally kept consistent since 2012.
In the end he was at least allowed to wear a cap and hopefully the LCS will consider Perkz’ medical condition and turn down the lights a bit so he can use his full potential to play.
