If the latest Esports rumors are to be believed, then Manchester City are on the verge of completing the purchase of Schalke 04’s spot in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC). With the German organization having decided to leave the franchise at the end of the season due to financial issues, speculation had been high as to who would replace them.

Schalke 04 Esports had been hoping to earn earn around €30 million from the sale, however no official announcement has been made as of yet. The German’s were struggling already, even before their professional soccer team was relegated to the Bundelisga II.

When will we learn more about Man City’s move to the LEC?

An announcement is expected on June 24, with Manchester City having posted a number of teasers over recent days. While it had originally been thought that Team BDS would be acquiring the license, it now appears that it will be the English organization. A teaser of an announcement was posted on Wednesday, with many having been quick to assume that it would be surrounding their move into the LEC.

How Schalke 04’s Head of Esports Added to the Speculation

Meanwhile, the fact that the post was retweeted by Tim Reichert, a former pro for Schalke 04, only addes fuel to the fire. Reichert is the organization’s Head of Esports, and while having removed the retweet shortly after, the writing is seemingly on the wall. We will bring further updates on Man City Esports’ move into the LEC as and when they arrive.
