Logitech POP Keys Is the Mechanical Keyboard for the TikTok Generation

Here’s a product that seemingly came out of nowhere: the POP Keys by Logitech is a wireless low-profile mechanical keyboard for the TikTok generation. And if that last sentence seems disparaging in nature, it really isn’t — this kind of device has all the bells and whistles those who spend their days and nights on social media could want, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Most gamers will laugh at such a thing, but we’re glad that Logitech is trying to offer a unique, bespoke device for every type of user and use-case scenario. Plus, the POP Keys keyboard is a lot more well-rounded and feature-rich than one would expect!

It is also a “spiritual” successor to the legendary K380. In fact, it’s better in every conceivable way while also retaining everything that made the K380 such an alluring option for anyone looking for a thin-and-light, no-frills keyboard with multi-device support and Bluetooth connectivity.

Logitech POP Keys — An… Interesting Take

Logitech’s copy sets the stage quite nicely: “Unleash personality onto your desk space and beyond with POP Keys. Together with a matching POP Mouse, let your true self shine with a statement desktop aesthetic and fun customizable emoji keys.”

We’re talking about a fairly compact wireless keyboard that has a ~60% layout. As a result, it’s not only portable by design by also very compact and won’t take up a lot of desk space. The real kicker is the set of five customizable emoji keys on the right-hand side. Yes, you’ve read that correctly. If you’re someone who tends to express themselves through emoji on a regular basis, this will definitely come in clutch.

Fortunately, it’s a nifty addition even if you’re not the chatting type as these keys can be remapped to basically any other function using Logitech’s Option software. It might be a bit of a hassle, but at least you’re not forced into using them so that’s a plus. There are four separate emoji keys and one that’s bound to pulling up the emoji menu on either Windows or macOS.

Connectivity

The POP Keys keyboard has multi-device support and can be connected to up to three devices, including phones and tablets running iOS or Android. As for connectivity, it supports both Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi through the Logi Bolt USB receiver. As always, you can easily switch between all three paired devices with a simple press of a button.

Switches

The switches are of the Brown tactile variety with the keycaps being plastic. So, frankly, don’t expect a noise-free experience. Key spacing will also take some getting used to, but at least the switches are rated for up to 50 million clicks so even though the POP Keys might look like a toy it’s definitely going to stand the test of time.

Logitech obviously went for form over function here, but that might not be such a bad thing given the target audience. At $99, however, it’s quite a hard sell; still, if you’ve been itching for a colorful keyboard, a device that would allow you to better express yourself and imbue your set-up with a bit of pizzazz, the POP Keys from Logitech might be worth taking a look at!
