Lil Nas X to create 2022 LoL Worlds anthem and K’Sante skin

After breaking into the world of League of Legends by working with 100 Thieves and the LCS in 2021, musician Lil Nas X will be the voice of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship official anthem “Star Walkin”.

The Worlds Anthem is always one of the most anticipated aspects of any League of Legends World Championship. And with this year’s World Cup taking place in North America and the group stage kicking off in Atlanta, Georgia, no one could bring some Atlanta flair to the anthem better than pop culture artist Lil Nas X.

New president of LoL

In a spoof video released by Riot Games, Lil Nas X declares himself the new “President” of League of Legends. In a gold-decked office, he explains to the camera that he’s “decided to be the new president of League of Legends — you can call me Lil Nas Xecutive.”

Lil Nas X will debut the world anthem “Star Walkin” on September 23. It will be the ninth Worlds anthem in league history and usher in the first World Championship in North America since 2016. The Grammy Award winner will also perform the song at the 2022 Worlds Finals opening ceremony that will take place on November 5 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Lil Nas X joins Imagine Dragons, Zedd, Chrissy Constanza and other popular musicians who previously worked on League of Legends Worlds anthems. He spoke on the announcement:

“I felt like it was time for me to try something new.

I made my mark on pop music, I made my mark on culture, so I’ve decided to be the new President of League of Legends.”

Singer and skin designer

Lil Nas X won’t just be responsible for the World Cup anthem. In a one-off collaboration with Riot Games, he designed a skin for the League’s newest unreleased champion K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah. K’Sante is a warrior from one of Shurima’s oldest tribal cities and was previously featured in a 2022 developer update video.

The Dubbed Prestige Empyrean K’Sante skin will be released on November 3 and can be unlocked through November 14 with Worlds 2022 tokens obtained by completing in-game missions. The skin will likely be K’Sante’s release skin and will coincide with his release date as the league’s newest champion.

Worlds 2022 begins play-in on September 29 in Mexico City. Lil Nas X promised that with his song, this year’s Worlds will be the biggest in the world.
