The first week of the LEC Winter Split 2023 ends, and with it, we enjoy many exciting matches, some surprises, and, above all, emotions. The Spanish team, KOI, continues to show an excellent level of play and joins the list of leaders along with Team Vitality, MAD Lions, and G2.

G2 Esports is the main favorite in this Winter Split of the LEC, as they beat Fnatic. Meanwhile, the black and orange organization is at the bottom of the tournament, along with Astralis, SK Gaming, and EXCEL Esports. Day 2 was full of emotions from start to finish. Let’s see what happened.

SK Gaming vs. Team BDS

Day 2 of the LEC starts with an essential match between SK Gaming and Team BDS. First, let’s remember that the new LEC format proposes an elimination of the last two teams in the first round. Therefore, SK and BDS were fighting in a very important match to avoid going home early.

Despite not showing exceptional play, Team BDS got up from the blow against KOI and managed to win. The Swiss won against their direct rival, SK Gaming, and thus justified the names in their lineup. Excellent performance from Ilias “nuc” Bizriken and Théo “Sheo” Borile for BDS’ first victory.

The midlaner and jungler were vital in the team’s victory.

Astralis vs. MAD Lions

MAD Lions dealt a huge blow to Astralis, sending them to the bottom of the general table. However, the lions have incredibly returned to the LEC. They are plugged in and are 2-0 with a spectacular performance by Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer and Javier “Elyoya” Prades.

This was an excellent game by MAD Lions, which leaves Astralis on the ropes for day 3 of the tournament. The chases on Kim “Chasy” Dong-Hyeon may be the only thing we can criticize MAD Lions for in this game, but we can’t take anything away from Astralis.

Astralis already starts at the bottom and joins the group that will finish the first week with a negative overall.

Team Vitality vs. Team Heretics

There is no doubt that Team Vitality is one of the main candidates in this LEC Winter Split 2023. Unless it is a grand optical illusion, Team Vitality aims to be one of the best teams in the LEC. The French beat the Spanish Heretics and now have a 2-0 record. Vitality is eliminating doubts about their level and especially about their team play.

Undoubtedly, one of Vitality’s main strikers is Zhou “Bo” Yangbo. The Chinese jungler has an excellent level of play currently using Sejuani.

On the other hand, Team Heretics could do very little despite great combos with Wukong and Jakob “Jackspektra” Kepple’s Kalista. As a result, Vitality takes the second victory and does not take off from the first position.

Remember that the LEC has no second round, so Vitality has already won two direct duels. However, this does not mean anything terrible on Team Heretics’ side, as they have played well despite being far behind in the champion selection phase.

EXCEL Esports vs. KOI

The extraordinary level of the Spanish KOI continues, as they got their second victory in the LEC after beating EXCEL Esports. However, although the victory was calm and comfortable for most of the game, the end brought a bit of doubt and panic.

While the KOI team seemed to focus on the game early, Kassadin’s final pick for Emil “Larssen” Larsson put the meter on the plans. The line phase would justify the choice of Kalista and Soraka, with only one kill for KOIs.

EXCEL almost got into the battle and returned with a Nashor Baron steal from Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié with Ahri. However, after the small scare, KOI got back on track and ended the match with Larssen’s full scaling.

Fnatic vs. G2 Esports

There is no doubt that the most shocking match of the week was G2 Esports’ thrashing of Fnatic. The European Derby falls this time on the side of G2, with their new signings as the main figures. Steven “Hans Sama” Liv’s legendary Draven was the undoing of a sluggish Fnatic, who succumbed to every anchor of Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle’s Nautilus. G2 continues to prove that they are one of the top favorites, and now they do it by beating the traditional rival by beating.

Less than 25 minutes was enough for G2 to end Fnatic’s dreams. The samurai gave a review to their classic rival, who could not do anything at any time. However, G2 fulfills the expectations that were given to them and put the 2-0 on their scoreboard.
