The stakes couldn’t be higher. Eight teams fighting for six playoff spots, with seven of them having the same record. The 2022 LEC Summer Split has become a game of inches.

The upcoming Superweek will bring three days of League of Legends competition, in which the results of the 15 matches played will decide Europe’s representatives at Worlds 2022.

Top of the LEC leaderboard

Team BDS have had a forgettable Summer Split but their last three games are against the top three teams — Misfits Gaming, Rogue, and MAD Lions. With nothing left to lose, can they manage to spoil someone’s plans?

Vitality were streaking before last week’s stunning loss to Astralis, but now they are back in the playoff push. Facing the bottom of the leaderboard should be easy on paper, but both Fnatic and SK are fighting for the sixth playoff spot. Their Sunday match against Rogue should be a must-watch banger since their Worlds appearance depends on if they top Rogue in the standings.

G2 Esports are guaranteed to make Worlds even if they win only one of these three games, however, playoff seeding matters a lot. Their first Superweek game is against MAD Lions, who can be dethroned in the standings with one win.

Misfits have been red hot since roster changes happened and the battle for their last playoff appearance starts now. They must secure their first game against Team BDS, and look forward to their match against G2. Misfits and G2 are part of a three-team tie with Rogue for the second spot and the result of this match will have a lot of playoff implications. Just like Misfits, Rogue is also banking on an easy win against Team BDS, but they must not falter against the spiraling Excel.

Fight for the sixth seed

Speaking of Excel, if there was a time to step up, it’s definitely now. Beating Rogue would be a huge step in the right direction and they should take care of business versus SK Gaming. Sunday’s match against Astralis seems to be the decider for the sixth playoff spot, considering they are currently tied for it. If Fnatic’s super team has any chance of redemption, they have to take it up another notch. Four of their seven wins have come against teams below them in the standings, and everyone they face in this Super week is above them. They have a winning record only against Astralis, with whom they are tied for the sixth playoff spot. Fnatic must kick off the super week with a win against them for seeding purposes, considering they face Rogue and Misfits the following days.
